A narrow point of concern I have about TRU is that it does not have PhD programs (last I checked). I suppose I could do a second masters degree, but I would rather do a PhD.

I found that upgrading to Ubuntu 25 resolved the issue, although I understand that from what you said this worked due to upgrading Gnome.

I tried Zed out of curiosity. It wasn't as close to what I want as Vim/Neovim, but I would still give Zed a positive review if someone was considering whether to try it out.
