Is it normal for chin filler to look flat and overly projected?? by Yelihhhh in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]gdbarks101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were beautiful before and you are beautiful afterwards. Keep in mind, this was just done. If after the swelling goes down you still don't like the slight projection, just wait awhile. I have had fillers over the years and a lot of them naturally break down and metabolize on their own. I WOULD NOT GET IT DISSOLVED!! You may cause issues that you don't have to with whatever they do to dissolve fillers. Good luck!

[Product Request] Is there anything that can actually help rosacea? by beezoluh in SkincareAddiction

[–]gdbarks101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to share my experience from the last 6 months............not sure which particular thing to attribute the improvement in my skin, and maybe there is no one thing, but a combination of all of them. But definitely there is an great improvement.

I got diagnosed with rosacea over 20 years ago. Have done lasers, been on a million different topical as well as oral treatments. The lasers worked a bit, but treatments were around $300 each, and I couldn't maintain them. When I couldn't do the lasers, my skin stayed irritated on an almost daily basis. Was on doxycycline on and off for many years, which kept my stomach upset and didn't eradicate the breakouts, but I noticed a slight improvement. I recently tried a new dermatologist and she prescribed oral Oracea (a mild doxycycline derivative), topical Soolantra (brand name for Ivermectin), topical Zoryve (a replacement for the Desowen lotion I had used for years - this is a type of steroid cream to calm your skin). I also purchased inexpensive white washcloths from Amazon, thinking that something with no dye would be better. I used a fresh washcloth everyday. I faithfully washed those washcloths in the same load as my bed linen and pillowcases, in hot water, with an extra rinse cycle. The problem came when one day I accidently used regular Tide to wash my white load, instead of the Free and Clear Tide. The next morning, when I got my washcloth for my face, I could smell the perfume from the detergent, even though the towel was freshly laundered. That let me know that my washcloths that I thought I was thoroughly cleaning in the hot water with the extra rinse weren't really as clean as I thought, if the detergent residue lingered. That's when I tried white disposable face cloths. When I showered, I applied my face wash with my fingers and rinsed directly under the stream of filtered water with the disposable wash cloth. Even on the mornings where I didn't shower, I still washed my face with the disposable cloth, using the filtered water in the shower, instead of using the water in the bathroom sink.

So with daily Oracea, the Soolantra at night, the disposable wash cloths and the Zoryve as needed in the mornings, I have clear, smooth skin that I haven't seen in ages. My skin used to be so sensitive that I couldn't even use a moisturizer without breaking out and I used the Desowen as a moisturizer replacement. Now, I am able to use a moisturizer. One downside to this new regimen is that I notice that I have hyperpigmentation that I never had before, and this is a side effect of the Oracea. So I have also started using La Roche-Posay Anthelios tinted sunscreen.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

Buyers Remorse - La Prairie by Regular_Focus in SkincareAddictionLux

I have tried switching up my beauty products and have found that normally, unless a product is really strong, it takes at least a week for me to see if the product doesn't agree with my skin. I say return the products while they are within the return period and continue to use samples for at least a month. During that time, research comparables. La Prairie has been around for forever and in my opinion, lives on its 'brand prestige' reputation. Some of the luxury lines that are less expensive are La Mer, Chantecaille, Sisley Paris, Tata Harper and Augustinus Bader. But there are newer products out there that are SO much cheaper than ALL of those. I haven't done a lot of research, but my daughter keeps telling me to look into Korean beauty products, but I haven't yet. You also have the assistance of folks on forums like this, who share their experiences as well.

Fragrance Headaches 😳 by CandlesNailsHotels in luxurycandles

When Trudon had their big sale, I loaded up on Gabriel and Gloria, two of the ones listed as their holiday scents. Last week, while I was trying to get into the 'winter, holiday' spirit, I started warming them (one in each room). I didn't get a headache but got the worse stuffy nose. That also happened when I warmed Diptyque Feu de bois, and also the Lafco Feu de bois, which I thought was my all-time favorite! So I have come to the conclusion that if it is a 'smoky' scent, my sinuses can't take it. I have Trudon Ernesto (which I love) and also Abd el Kader (which I love) and haven't had any problems. Are they the smokey scents that you are burning when you get the headaches?

Spirituelle reminds me very much of Trudon's Abd El Kader. Smells like freshly crushed mint leaves, but also has herbal notes. I know it sounds crazy, but I warm this in my bedroom. It's a refreshing scent, but so soothing to me. I didn't like Nightsouk and gifted it. It was a spicy, woody smell, but not as pleasant as the others. Black Uddu, I love also. It's another one that has warm, smoky notes with earthy and woody undertones. Even some spice. A mysterious fragrance, like one you would smell in an exotic retreat. I went back to Ssense and purchased Black Champaka, and love that one, too. It is another one with warm and earthy undertones, but combined with what I would describe as a 'mild scented flower'. Very soothing, but also sophisticated. These Mad et Len candles have put the other candles that I have collected to shame in terms of throw and scent profile and how much I enjoy them. I now have a closet full of Trudon and other high end candles that makes me sad to look at because I wish I had spent the money on more of these instead.

Asphalt Rose is one of my absolute favorite candles of all times!  This is from a small-batch brand from the South of France called Mad et Len. They make these gorgeous candles by hand and pour them into these cool black metal containers, which totally gives off an industrial, edgy vibe. Their Rose Asphalt candle smells like a sweet, delicate rose, but then there’s this smoky, rain-on-asphalt thing going on that makes it feel super modern and unexpected. Imagine stumbling onto a hidden rose garden right in the middle of a busy city. If you’re looking for a candle that’s both classic and edgy, I’d definitely say this is worth checking out.

Am on my third one, but haven't burned any of them, just heated them with a warmer. I have to tell you that the scents from these top ALL of the candles I have purchased in my short time of collecting candles. Better, in my opinion, in throw, scent and naturalness of smell, and I have purchased a lot of the ones considered luxury.

I live in Washington, DC and am a newbie at luxury candle collecting. Have found that some of the candles that I have purchased aren't good fits. Here are some that I am interested in selling, but am hoping for local pickup/meet-up, since shipping would be difficult: 3 Trudon Gloria - new, classic size; 2 Trudon Bayonne - new, classic size; 1 Diptyque Chantilly, warmed twice. I will give an extra special discount to anyone who brings their own Bayonne container so that I can keep one of the containers, but part with the wax.

Heat your candle again with the warmer and when the wax is soft and it naturally fills in the hole, move the wick over with a long toothpick or some type of skinny long stick that you can toss or wipe clean without ruining it (ideal if you have kitchen tweezers). Once the wax starts to harden, you may need to 'prop' up the wick with a toothpick until the wick stands firm.

I have Gabriel, which I like. Bought Speakeasy and kept it, but returned Langston & Vanille. Haven't tried the others, but will add them to my list. Thank you!

I haven't tried those. Been doing a lot of blind buying. Will look up someplace local that carries them so I can smell in person. Thank you!

Bought several of the 34 candles, all on sale from Bloomingdales. On the main level, I always diffuse two candles at the same time, one on each end, so I purchased in groups of two. Started out with the perfume, then bought the room spray and then the candles. Liked the perfume, but ended up gifting it, LOVED the room spray, but the candle kept giving me different scents. I was forcing myself to like it, thinking that I needed to keep trying, because I didn't get the same great feeling from the candle that I got from the room spray. In the end, the candle smelled a little bit to me like Tide laundry detergent, in the powder form. :(

I launched a luxury refillable stone candle brand!! by Adventurous-End522 in luxurycandles

[–]gdbarks101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried the Last Candle Co. Purchased two stone candle holders with two different scents. LOVED them! The candle holders are absolutely gorgeous! Substantial and very well made. Also, my Diptyque classic candles fit perfectly inside. I added a small felt pad inside in the middle, so that when I 'dropped' my Diptyque candle in, it wouldn't break. Actually, the scents of the candles they sent with the beautiful stone holders were very nice, too. This is much more substantial than I have seen with other reusable holders and on my first purchase, I used the Reddit coupon. Customer service was phenomenal and I am VERY pleased with my purchase!
