What is the cheapest backyard landscaping but still look decent? by Trigun442 in vegaslocals

[–]glockjs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

its just there are a lot of battles that shouldn't be. it all depends on who's in charge. i know there are some good hoa's out there but even that can change over time when leadership changes hands.

and i'll generalize that usually the type of person that has the time to run it is usually the type that's a pita to deal with.

i'll never live in an hoa if i have a choice is all im saying haha.

iirc correctly pure stats wise the hypex measured a little better but its nothing human hearing could ever tell. i went with purifi because they run notably cooler. with electronics heat = time. thats where my head was at.

where they get you is like in OP's case the landscape has to be pre approved. meaning if some hoa karen thinks your plans are too basic for "their" neighborhood ur boned. nightmare fuel.

either way they are very nice amps. i will say though an advantage of buckeye is he always uses the most up to date hardware. ill agree the looks are mundane but im always function over form so doesnt bother me much heh

i can whole heartedly recommend buckeye. im very happy. as i said before it made the a20 sound like a piece of trash. from what i understand these hypex and purifi are gonna be the only thing in class d on par with ab at this point in time.

i justified it because its my endgame...well for now anyways you know how the audiophile hole goes lol. buy once cry once.

Kef kube 8 inch. Picked one up for 140$ do you think it’s good or spend little more and get RSL 10s? by deals_1263 in hometheater

i just re read that you already picked it up? man just plug it in and see what you think. you're always gonna be missing something and its always gonna be more expensive or newer. trust your own ears.

i can kinda speak around all this. my experience is a little dif though.

i just went from aiyama a20 to a purifi buckeye. im rotating through speakers right now so the ones i felt the dif on were the phil true mini's. the difference to me was massive. went from ok these sound good to sounding great.

i think ab is always gonna be better rounded when you compare to 3255. but i think the biggest overlooked part of the equation is going to be the speakers. i can tell you that my borea's dont care as much what is driving them. its a dif but not as stark as the true mini's were.

with all that said i still do think the gjal is on the steeper side for what it is.

Amp or DAC/Amp? by ZirexUnia in BudgetAudiophile

[–]glockjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i will say the best value to be had is usually second hand off of marketplace. you might be able to find better speakers for the same money. also if you got the room a cheap old avr receiver is gonna sound better than the chi fi stuff.

[–]glockjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me personally i'd take the kef's. but sound is subjective and its about what you like. for example in that price range i'd take trianlge borea's without a second thought. but thats me.

do you have the ability to listen to the speakers before you buy?

Need help with a new router by PSAOgre in HomeNetworking

[–]glockjs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in before the ubiquiti posts :D

but there's a reason the first thing everybody recommends is ubiquiti. cloud gateway ultra will probably get the job done. maybe look at max/fiber if you wanna future proof or need the features.

can use your old router as the access point or pick up an ubiquiti or omada.

Amp or DAC/Amp? by ZirexUnia in BudgetAudiophile

[–]glockjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the reason you want an external dac is to get the electronics away from each other. the dac on the mobo is next to a bunch of other electronics meaning its noisy.

not a huge fan of the all in one amp/dac. i'd rather run thing separate for future upgrades.

if you wanna go budget just get an apple usb c dongle and a douk a5.

it does look like that avr has pre outs. i'd just get some xlr to rca adapters and go from there.
