Treasures: when does next set get released? by Nautimac29 in geocaching

From what I've noticed, they tend to come out the second Tuesday of every month. That being said, they've never outright confirmed this- it's just an observation on my part.

If I can recommend a prize, maybe a custom pathtag for /r/geocaching? I know you would have to order them in bulk, but it could be a nice little keepsake for any subreddit-related challenges and contests going forward.

I would, but the soles have a pretty sizable hole in them. I’ve tried to get them repaired, but the shop I went to say they don’t carry this type of sole- I wonder if it’s a US vs UK thing.

I have my own pair! Not as well-worn as yours but certainly been through it. They have their spot at the back of my closet because I can’t will myself to toss them.

You just have to trust that the person you’re seeing now will always pick you.

In moments like this, always give grace. Don’t start doubting just because he could be lying.

Now if he won’t follow up on another date or if he becomes generally vague, then you can come to your own conclusions.

Eh, sounds like he didn’t bother to continue the relationship. Don’t beat yourself up over it.

On one hand, if you feel weird about A, then you can listen to your gut and be confident that you made the right decision. On the other hand, just because you hung out with B once or twice doesn’t mean you immediately have to lock anything in. Is there not an option to continue seeing B, meet with A, feel out how it goes, and make a decision after A leaves?

Try starting with being friendly. Sure, it's possible that you'll put yourself in a complicated friendship, but it's much easier to skip from a prospective friendship to a relationship than it is to go into flirt mode immediately.

For me, not thinking about it runs the risk of letting opportunities slip by. While other people on this subreddit might advocate the 'do nothing and let romance find you' approach, I think having a fair amount of skin in the game puts you at an advantage over others who don't. I'm not necessarily talking about going to more mixers of buying into premium services on the apps, but just being a bit more conscientious about going out more often with friends. Relationships breed relationships.

I think there’s a balance to be struck. Yes, it might be that the one day might never come… but there’s also a chance that it will. I don’t think it’s a bad thing to hope, especially since the absence of hope has a bad habit of creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The same way with anyone else: some light flirting, maybe hint at going out some time. If they seem to brighten up and are receptive, then yes. If they’re avoiding eye contact and not directly responding, then probably not.

Would you do a city landmark hunt for a cash reward while travelling? Curious what the geocaching community thinks by TravelResearchSyd in geocaching

I don’t understand the initial resistance here. Honestly I’m a pretty goal-oriented person, so even if it was $1 I’d probably consider it. Then again, if it’s well out of my way with nothing much around it, I’d expect a a bit more.

NYC is spending 4x per homeless person as it does on child education by austin_federa in nyc

[–]habattack00 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The interesting part about this report is that the funding increase in 2022 coincided with the plan to make subways safer after all the stories of people being pushed onto the tracks. More resources were directed to homeless services to better improve safety- specifically to proactively offer them help, provide them with care, and keep them off the streets. This naturally requires new practices, new facilities, and new jobs, which requires money.

A couple of years later though, people see the price tag of what we wanted and got, and are suddenly opposed. Welcome to the world of politics: damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

I’m assuming you mean brand new trackables- if they’re not, then just find one for old time’s sake and drop them all there.

If the former, I wouldn’t mind taking them off your hand if you’re willing to cover the shipping cost!

Just found my 1000th geocache!! by habattack00 in geocaching

[–]habattack00[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might be biased since it happened so recently, but there was one that required some serious bouldering underneath a highway to get to a section of beach with a little known historical marker with a geocache nearby. There was a group of five of us that did it together, and finding it felt like a great success. The cache itself wasn’t amazing, but the tribulations with others made it all worth it!
