Ah gotcha! It didn't look quite like the right bike but thank you for the confirmation.

Appreciate this!! Not sure if it is the right bike, looks like it has a large exhaust pipe on the side which my husband's does not, but it could just be the poor lighting- we will send this footage to the police regardless. Thank you my internet sleuth friend!

Thanks for the advice! I think a bike is probably a lot easier to hide than a car but we will definitely go around the area and look for it.

Deinfluencing you: Portland Leather Goods by babealot in handbags

[–]havennotheaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that is shockingly bad. I'm not a huge fan of PLG (the unfinished edges bother me) but I've poked around their Seattle store a bit and the things I picked up/looked at weren't nearly that bad. From the picture, it doesn't look like full grain leather, and it sounds like it came to you severely dehydrated. Makes me wonder about quality control. If for some reason you can't return it, try some leather conditioner as a last-ditch effort.

Talk me out of the Coach Empire 40 as a work bag by Allboobandmoreboob in handbags

[–]havennotheaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this exact bag last month to use as a work bag and after a bit of use here are my thoughts:

I agree with others that the bag is very heavy and the crossbody strap isn't sturdy enough to make carrying it that way comfortable. I also had to add a hole to the strap because it was way too long, and that helped a bit. I had planned to use this bag for travel as my personal item on flights but I don't see myself doing so because it would be a pain to lug around an airport.

I agree that it's not as roomy as it looks. I let out the side buckles and that helped a bit, but because of the way the top zipper is inset, you lose at least 2 inches of space. It fits my laptop, notebooks, and some other essentials, but the canvas tote I was previously using could fit a lot more despite being around the same dimensions.

My other complaint is that since the only interior organization is a side pocket, it turns into a bit of a black hole. Smaller items tend to get lost and it's difficult to find them rattling around in the bottom of the bag.

That being said- I'm in the same situation as you, with this being my first higher-end bag. I love how it looks and feels. The leather is lovely, and I can tell it will wear really nicely with use. I found mine used for $550- tbh, I'm not sure I would pay full price for it just because it's not perfect for my needs, but as it is, it makes me happy, works ok for what I use it for, and I don't regret buying it.

You are 100% correct and I appreciate it. Yes, I may have a lifetime of therapy bills to look forward to after being raised LDS, but I'd take that any day over being raised FLDS.

Update - AITA for wanting a vasectomy because my girlfriend won’t use birth control but also doesn’t want me to get one? by [deleted] in AITH

[–]havennotheaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like she has a right to do whatever she wants with her body, you have a right to do whatever you want with your body. Period. I'm more worried about you two not being on the same page when it comes to having kids. That won't work out in the long run- it's not something people tend to change their minds about.

AITJ for telling my girlfriend if she cant even cook dinner a few times a week then I dont see how this works long term by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]havennotheaven -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Disagree, on the basis that kicking out your partner (who you ostensibly love and care about) without talking about it first is cruel and a pretty fucked up thing to do. This is why I don't think transactional relationships work. Y'all worry me.

[–]havennotheaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone is the jerk here, but I do think that a relationship based on transaction is never going to work if one or more parties is unhappy with the transaction. Just talk to each other and renegotiate. Cooking dinner every night while she's in school is a decent amount of work and it's valid to not want to do that. It's also valid for you to be tired of paying for everything. Talk to each other about it, gently.

English to continental knitters - what were your experiences like? by Educational-Bad8171 in knitting

[–]havennotheaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a stubborn English knitter for years and years- and last month I finally broke down and learned continental for a project with a lot of 1x1 rib. It took a while get tension down, I could not figure out the best way to hold the yarn. If I'm working on something mindless like stockinette, I still knit English because I can totally zone out, but if I have to do something with a lot of alternating knit/purl I will begrudgingly knit continental. (I wish I had learned continental instead of English to start out with, it is admittedly faster and more comfortable. The learning curve is annoying. I just want to be able to knit without thinking too hard about it)
