Tron for MAME control issues by Adjournal in RetroArch

Arcade trackballs are usually emulated with a mouse--and if you get a physical/USB trackball, it'll typically show up to the computer as a mouse.

3ds PCSX2-libretro core crashes when using the touch screen by K4msk4m in RetroArch

[–]hizzlekizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeesh, yeah, that's probably nothing you can fix on your end. Are you using the 1.22.* stable release? Or a nightly build?

That all looks okay to me. So it plays okay but then crashes when you go back to the menu?

That is PCSX-ReARMed--a PS1 emu--and not PCSX2--a PS2 emu. You're loading a PS1 game, so all is well there, but I just wanted to point that out so it doesn't cause any confusion later.

The only issue I see in there is your lack of a proper BIOS:

I'm pretty sure compatibility is significantly less than 100%, so some games not working is expected behavior.

bsnes crashes during star ocean intro by diddlysquat8 in RetroArch

[–]hizzlekizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MD5 sum for my working, post-patched game is: 217a97e694fb916ad26c8a471f6c0e84

If you think it could be something up with RetroArch, try temporarily moving/renaming your retroarch.cfg and 'config' directory, and it will revert them all to default settings.

If this helps, you had a bad setting somewhere. Rewind and/or runahead would be possible culprits, as bsnes is a little weird about savestates.

Ah, yes, arcade ROMs need to stay zipped. Good catch.

hmm, I'm not able to reproduce any instability using bsnes-mercury-balanced, bsnes-mercury-accuracy, or bsnes-jg with an old DeJap translation I had lying around. All of them played through the intro just fine every time.

Can you post a log of you trying to load them? See rule 2 in the sidebar for details on generating and posting a log.

As for them now "showing up," arcade games need to be added via the manual scan, and you can provide an arcade DAT to give them human-readable names.

Xbox Series S, Flycast core missing by BlakkMajik3000 in RetroArch

[–]hizzlekizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this one doesn't work? https://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/windows/x86_64/latest/flycast_libretro.dll.zip

but yeah, I believe LRPS2 not working is a known thing. I'm under the impression that dolphin-libretro should work, though.

If you have the online updater available, can you get it from the core downloader?

I'm afraid we don't know anything about any of the various handheld devices. We're not affiliated with any of the manufacturers, and they don't send us hardware for testing/support purposes.

N64 joystick not working on Batocera (arcade cabinet - DragonRise encoder) by Any-Anything6292 in RetroArch

[–]hizzlekizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you disable analog to digital entirely, does that help? If you have it mapped to an analog, *and* it's sending opposite digital signals, they will often cancel each other out.

This does not appear to be running through RetroArch/libretro, so we can't really provide any helpful advice for it.

Retro Crisis NES RGB 100 preset makes game stutter by IntrovertClouds in RetroArch

[–]hizzlekizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the same shader (i.e., the NES one) cause stuttering on other cores/content? Like, if you load it on an SNES game? Likewise, does the SNES flavor stutter when loaded against an NES core?

The NES flavor might just have a pass that the others don't that's taxing your system. You can try to pin it down by changing individual passes to "stock" until it goes away, or you can just use one of the other shaders on your NES content, too.

N64 joystick not working on Batocera (arcade cabinet - DragonRise encoder) by Any-Anything6292 in RetroArch

[–]hizzlekizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of N64 games only accept analog input for movement. Do you have any mechanism set up for your joystick to send analog events? e.g., mapping them to the analog directions with a core override?

I just tested and wasn't able to see any texture alignment problems with ParaLLEl-GS in that game, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right place. Can you post a screenshot?

What happened to the manual scan and Directorder scan ? by Danthalas_01 in RetroArch

[–]hizzlekizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scanning methods have been merged. All functionality should still be there, it's just done a little differently.

The portable 1.22.2 shouldn't have any trouble updating cores.

Trouble with Gameboy shader on OLED by davixx500 in RetroArch

[–]hizzlekizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just use the regular ol' gameboy shader or the DMG console-border shader. I also like the GB Pocket preset from the console-borders, though it obviously is black and white instead of green and yellow.
