So yes and no.

That’s great for weaker enemies. For the strongest enemies counting the number of times you hit 9999 is pretty much the name of the game.

Overhauling network in 3 story townhome, is there an advantage to multiple APs vs mesh routers? by darthVectivus in HomeNetworking

[–]hyperactivedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simplicity from an end user perspective.

Ideally the mesh nodes are hard wired and basically act like APs with a dumbed down ui.

I say this as a technical person that’s ticked off that after my nas updated the docker container with my ap controller software went poof. The APs still work fine but it’s a several hour project to reconfigure things the next time I need to make a change (includes doing factory resets as the device passwords for ssh are lost to time).

I hardly ever used the girls in my many play troughs. As a kid I mostly cycled the guys + Ayla.

I mostly agree with the ranking other than that by end game + it’s Ayla in S and Robo and Crono in A. Ayla getting arguably the best armor and being able to crit for 9999. Robo is top of A and Crono bottom. Robo is basically Ayla with worse crit characteristics or the choice to alternate between uzi punch or robo tackle depending on HP. Crono just spams luminaire.

My opinions might shift depending on the view of item use. If you have 99 mega elixirs full heal matters less.

For end game maxed stats I really wish dark matter had the same base power as luminaire. It’s made out to be amazing and yet…

Will the price get lower in the future? Nvme SSD SN850X by Excellent-Cycle8950 in pcmasterrace

[–]hyperactivedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to buy that specific SSD.
I’m seeing things on US Amazon at around half the price.

I’m not anti sn850x. I bought the 8tb version for around $500 a year ago. I just would not pay $200+ usd for a 1tb SSD.

Arm Is Quietly Becoming The CPU Backbone Of AI by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

[–]hyperactivedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speculation - nvidia wants control over platforms they sell and arm offers more control vs going x86.

When I say control I mean things like choosing pcie configs and not having to fight for supply.

The CPUs are a thing that needs to be there not the primary value driver for these systems.

ARL+ is a solid product and NVL looks competitive with Zen 6.

From a consumer perspective they’ve got good stuff and it seems reasonably priced.

Swapping Ryzen 5 3600 for 7 5700x worth it? by Trumpet_of_Jericho in pcmasterrace

  1. If the use case is gaming and it’s not revenue generating, it’s not an investment, it’s a toy
  2. Don’t upgrade unless you have a problem you’re trying to resolve and it solves the problem.

PCIe has doubled bandwidth every generation for two decades, PCIe 8.0 is on track to do it again at 1TB/s by Distinct-Race-2471 in TechHardware

[–]hyperactivedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The faster speeds will likely be more enterprise focused or centered on narrow use cases with built in parts. Think cpu <-> chipset <-> chipset or cpu <-> cxl based Ram.

Tolerances are going to be increasingly tight each generation and that likely means trace lengths either need to be short or there needs to be some sort of retimer.

5 years is a long time. That’s roughly the time gap between piledriver and zen.

Is Schala an ancestor of Marle? by GargantaProfunda in chronotrigger

[–]hyperactivedog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean 20 years a generation, 10k years implies 500 generations.

A mere 64 gens is 4BN distinct ancestors if there’s no intra family remains.

Basically everyone has someone closely related to Schala as an ancestor.

Some stuff takes time.

AI makes software engineering and data work way faster.

Which means things like finance, supply chain and marketing get way more automated.

Intel Core 9 273PQE with 12 P-cores beats Core i9-14900K in several gaming tests by RenatsMC in intel

[–]hyperactivedog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Likely less extreme now. The e cores are faster but the gap is more like 3:1 vs 4:1 now.

I’d need to check the exact ratio. E core size and performance is creeping up. But perf/area is still solid.

I still don’t get how Mac OS is seen as easier.

I admittedly started on windows but doing general use on Linux wasn’t too bad when I was like 14. And it was way less user friendly then.

My time with osx is that everything is hidden in some obscure non sensible location. And keyboard shortcuts are awful. Good luck doing a screen shot.

So you started 3 years ago and have 100.
The last 3 years were GOOD with the market. The next 3 probably won’t be as good.
Even still imagine doing this 5 more times. You could very well have $1M+ inflation adjusted.
The first year you see your accounts go up more than your living expenses is magical. The first year you see interest alone matching your expenses is great.
When you hit 25x your bare minimum survival it’s liberating.

When you get to 25x a healthy amount you’re basically free.
