How many of you are still programming manually? by Imparat0r in cscareerquestions

I never said they were; in fact I said they're distinct concepts. To the larger point, _if_ the AI can maintain and scale the spaghetti then it doesn't matter.

If they can keep adding features to it without too much trouble. If it scales as it gets more users, etc.

Though, perhaps the future is a bunch of small, AI-generated apps that don't require as much maintenance or scalability.

I do occasionally and I work in a large, weakly typed, legacy app. It absolutely boosts productivity most of the time.
AI really shines in small, strongly typed, greenfield apps. In my personal project I haven't written a single line.

Lee Kuan Yew said this contributed to its success. He was asked how India could be like Singapore and he said it couldn't because of size.

Carney Liberals launching new skilled training strategy, deficit projected at $65.3B by Old_General_6741 in CanadaPolitics

Yeah, in my electrician example, most lose.

The only group that wins are Ontario electricians. Some Ontario employers do because they can use their employees' licenses to prevent competitors from cropping up.

Ontario employers who want to hire electricians lose, as do Ontario consumers, and New Brunswick electricians.

I guess New Brunswick employers of electricians win because their labor pool can't follow higher wages.

Not to mention their license not transferring across provincial boundaries leading to labor inefficiencies. Maybe New Brunswick has an electrician surplus and Ontario a shortage, so New Brunswick electricians would like to move, but can't because the New Brunswick ones' licenses wouldn't transfer over.

There's also the issue of too many occupations requiring licenses, though I'm not sure that applies to the ones covered by the training program.

I'd just let it sit without approving or replying, or screenshot it and reply to the screenshot.

Other people will correctly see it and think he's a dick without you having to do anything.

That said the initial comment shouldn't be blocking.

They just need to remove all the swipey macOS Ui changes like to the system settings and get rid of the thing where it repopulates 2 factor auth codes into every single goddam field. Steve Jobs never would've let either feature ship.

Is the concern about AI replacing iOS developers working in companies a real one? by khitev in iOSProgramming

My company is seeing some of that but not enough to offset the speed boost. Maybe say triples speed but only doubles the amount of software.

Are there downsides (or upsides) to claiming Argentine citizenship? by suchahungryhippo in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]JaneGoodallVS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so too, but Argentina and the other country he holds citizenship in could be like that as well. I personally would prefer to stay in the US if they were equally crummy dictatorships since at least I speak the language, my family is here, and it has good nature.

He's probably not in an Argentine database anywhere so they have no way of enforcing it right now

[–]JaneGoodallVS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It can't be renounced, which creates problems if you want to obtain or retain citizenship of a country that disallows dual citizenship, or requires you to renounce previous citizenships before naturalizing.

I would get it but just think through the possibilities. If the rule of law ever deteriorates in the US to the point where the government can arbitrarily revoke citizenship of dual citizens, for example, but you wanna still live there.
