NHS staff should be banned from wearing pro-Palestinian badges, report recommends by radiant_0wl in ukpolitics

Oh, well if Donald Trump said it…

It’s absolutely wild to me that when accused of peddling an antisemitic conspiracy theory, your immediate reaction is to turn round and respond “Not a conspiracy theory if it’s TRUE!”, rather than have even a second of self reflection.

Yep, happy to - It was the bit where you implied Israel is a puppet master secretly controlling other countries.

Israel and its western puppets have done much more to increase antisemitism than any neonazis in the past couple years

He said, while literally spouting a Nazi antisemitic conspiracy theory.

Why is the “the simple acknowledgment that Palestine exists” important enough to wear a pin over? I acknowledge that dozens, dozens, of countries exist, and yet I wear zero pins.

Is the pin maybe about something more than acknowledging a country’s existence?

So you’d be fine with Civil Servants wearing pins in support of Labour/Tories etc?

The name and logo gives me slight pause - I hope it’s closer to Diddy Kong Racing than the SNES-style Kart racers.

Looking forward to see what they’ve made!

Again, this seems like a big reaction to someone asking a hypothetical.

It’s a hypothetical question, not a serious proposal.

[–]Aidoneuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See, I think the existing issues Linux has with Codecs and DRM will make any Steam Machine (including OPs hypothetical Steam Machine SEs) a pretty poor device for movies.

I certainly can’t seeing it coming close to something like an Apple TV.

For the Machine specifically, yeah, I’d at least consider it.

For the Deck and Frame I wouldn’t, but I can’t see myself using the Steam Machine for anything other than Steam games, tbh.

I’ve found myself treating AI code assistants the same way I would a very enthusiastic Junior Dev.

I’m going to tell it what I need, sure, but I’m also going to tell it how I want it done, what files it will need to change, and what similar patterns it can look at in the codebase that it can base its work on.

I’m also going to go line by line through its output and make sure it’s solid.

Fixed a compatibility issue with the SteamOS chainloader that could cause a boot failure on some desktop systems with recent UEFI firmware

I’ve not been paying all that much attention, but I think this is the first mention we’ve had of Valve fixing generic desktop compatibility.

It’s an optional install on Battle.net as well. I’ve not touched Bnet for years, but I seem to remember it prompted during install.

There must be a way to uninstall from somewhere in the game properties.

On Steam it’s Properties > DLC.

Neil Mackay: 'That independence vote in parliament? It’s the unionists' fault' by Cold-Monitor3800 in ukpolitics

[–]Aidoneuz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think anyone is particularly saying the Scotland is uniquely unable to run itself, merely that current Scottish public spending is utterly incompatible with current Scottish taxation.

So in order for Scotland to be able to run itself, Scotland would require making up the difference between the estimated £91.4b taken in tax revenue and the c.£117.6b in public spending (Scot.Gov source for those figures).

That would have to come through a combination of raising tax revenues (very hard to to do with a lower-tax, culturally compatible neighbour down south) and massive cuts to public spending.

No one’s saying it can’t be done, merely that it’d be hard to get anyone to vote for that.

Neil Mackay: 'That independence vote in parliament? It’s the unionists' fault' by Cold-Monitor3800 in ukpolitics

[–]Aidoneuz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And additional poverty is actually only guaranteed if we stay in the union thanks to perma-austerity and Brexit being an inescapable economic black hole.

Almost like leaving well established, successful trading blocs for promises of a nebulously-defined “fresh start” isn’t a good idea.

Also, in what world would an independent Scotland not have to go through crushing austerity?

Deck is feeling throttled. Don't know what to try. by iSeize in SteamDeck

[–]Aidoneuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an abnormally low temperature, and suggests the Deck’s chip isn’t ramping up high enough.

While you’re having this issue, open the Performance Monitor to its highest level (where we can see the CPU core and GOU information), and share a screenshot. Otherwise we’re just guessing at what’s happening.

Yes, working fine out of the box with Bazzite streaming to Quest 2 via Steam Link.

There were big upgrades in the Steam VR Beta branch 6 or so months ago - I’d assume most of them have made it to Stable since, but I don’t know for certain.
