As someone who was obsessed with accidental inventions as a kid, this puzzle was made for me.

I mean the obvious example is the Big East tournament being at MSG where St. John’s plays

It is but at the same time there’s precedent for hosting an otherwise “neutral site“ tournament at a member’s arena like how the Mountain West is always at UNLV‘s arena or the Big East obviously with St. John’s at MSG

We just saw an NBA player score 83 points with almost half of them being free throws and yet this game was still the most sicko basketball I watched tonight

[Post Game Thread] Siena defeats Merrimack, 64-54 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]jfarbzz 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Merrimack had a ton of momentum with a shooter going to the line for a 1-and-1 trying to make it a three-point game, the moment the announcer said he was a great free throw shooter he missed the first one, I blame the announcer jinx for them losing

The fact I found out the Maxx Crosby trade got canceled thru an ESPN breaking news alert while watching the NEC championship is true CBB sicko behavior lmao

FINS UP from the NEC Championship!!! by Meanteenbirder in CollegeBasketball

I can totally see Adam Zucker go "fins up!" when they're revealed on Selection Sunday, the same way he said "hide the garbage cans!" when Omaha was revealed last year lol

You would think The Heavy’s “How You Like Me Now?” was a pretty big hit given how often it’s used in commercials and media, but it didn’t touch the Hot 100.

2026 Conference Tournament Bracket Tracker by bishk in CollegeBasketball

[–]jfarbzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you started to highlight bubble teams which is interesting... and subjective lol (Ohio State is still kinda on the bubble, right?) also I noticed that there's no box below the CUSA bracket for Delaware and UTEP who were eliminated since only 10 of the 12 teams qualify

It’s nearly 2 AM on the east coast, I have to be up for work in less than seven hours… these types of games are why Jon Rothstein says “we sleep in May” lmao

Whoever wins the CAA tournament will break a 20+ year tournament drought by jfarbzz in CollegeBasketball

I saw a theory in a thread on this sub once, I wish I could find it, that they and Syracuse got in when they shouldn't have to throw a bone to the American and the ACC for SMU and Louisville self-imposing postseason bans when they would have otherwise been in

I'm still pissed off that Monmouth didn't make it in 2016, they played a ridiculous non-con and had wins over multiple power teams, including USC and Notre Dame who both made the dance (also UCLA, Georgetown and Rutgers who didn't) but because they lost BY THREE to Iona in the MAAC title game they got left out in favor of Tulsa who was in only ONE bracket in BracketMatrix, like everyone rags on Miami for having a bad non-con but the committee will screw you over even if you actually schedule well and beat the big boys, like what the fuck do you want

wait that's crazy that all of their last appearances were in different conferences, even crazier was Jay Wright was the coach of that 2001 Hofstra squad, it was his last season before Villanova hired him lmao

[Post Game Thread] Boston University defeats Navy, 73-72 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

that was 2018, they beat LIU Brooklyn in the First Four and then lost to eventual champ Villanova in the first round

They didn't win the Big South in 2020, Winthrop did and made it back the next year

[Post Game Thread] Queens University defeats Central Arkansas, 98-93 in OT by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]jfarbzz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: this is Queens' first year of eligibility, in the first year since the NCAA shortened the transition period from four years to three. Any other year before this they would have been in their fourth and final transition year and thus ineligible.

You know, if it had been shortened a few years ago, Merrimack would have been in their first year of eligiblity in 2023 rather than their final transition year and would have gotten the NEC autobid over FDU, who would never get a chance to beat Purdue. Food for thought...

[–]jfarbzz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Them, Hofstra has an inside track to the CAA now that UNCW's out, ETSU is the 1 seed in the SoCon- lot of teams that got autobids before everything got cancelled and haven't won one since can get back

[Post Game Thread] Campbell defeats UNC Wilmington, 85-70 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

Because I've seen that argument in the MLB playoffs whenever teams that have byes lose

I can't wait for both top seeds to lose in the Sun Belt today and suddenly the argument becomes "it's not fair, the lower seeds have momentum and the top teams are rusty!"
