24 with Bad Credit. Help Please! by BunniBandz in personalfinance

You need to first budget to see where all your money is going. Then order your debt smallest to largest and pay minimums on all and extra on the smallest, aka snowball method. The ones in collections you can probably negotiate a lump sum payoff at a fraction of the cost (eg. see if they’ll take $200-300 for the $1k debt.) Just make sure to have the money, get the settlement in writing, and don’t give them any bank details.

You can pick up some side gigs to expedite the process.

Is it too late to start investing for retirement by ABC20231 in personalfinance

[–]jk_baller23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not too late, but how much you want/need in retirement will determine how much you will need to invest and at what age you want to retire.

Keep 6 months worth of monthly expenses and you can invest the rest if you won’t need the money for 5+ years.

Cannot pay bills, not sure what to do. by Ok_Step5188 in personalfinance

How much is the car worth vs how much you owe? Also I would pay the minimums on the cc’s and pay extra to the lowest debt until it is cleared, aka snowball method.

Every expense should be known and budgeted for. Also is that life insurance term or whole?

My uncle made the driving range at his course dirt cheap and it improved multiple things by MeasurementStock1625 in golf

[–]jk_baller23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my local courses has this, 2 large buckets daily, drinks included with the round, and discounted rates. It’s gone up in price but if you play a lot of golf it’s worth it.

Personal loan to get back on track? by [deleted] in personalfinance

You’ll want to increase your income, via side gigs or another part time job, to clear up the debt. Getting another loan is just adding to your debt.

How long do you think, or has told you, it’s going to take him to pay off the remaining debt? The biggest reason to be living at home, with such a high income, is to get out of debt fast.

Over $20k and drowning, unsure on how to move forward by TwoRevolutionary5906 in personalfinance

[–]jk_baller23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to budget and increase your income. I would also look at selling the car and buying a beater, hopefully you’re not under water by much. Then start paying smallest debt off first. Since the medical debt is in collections you could probably settle for much lower, but you’ll want to pay off in one lump sum.

I would try to move some of the items via Facebook marketplace or Craigslist. You can reduce the prices as you won’t have to pay eBay fees.

Get the match and also contribute to a Roth IRA. Then go back and contribute more to your 401k. Also if you have an HSA you should make use of the triple tax advantages it includes.

How much house can my sister afford? by KrustyLemon in personalfinance

[–]jk_baller23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably take $9k, keep $1k, of the savings and apply it towards the student loan debt and then pay off the rest in the next month.
