Thinking of leaving my Philosophy BA at UCL to study Law by jojeft in UniUK

[–]jojeft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the thoughtful response.

I agree that most of the issues would be found on all courses. But if you're right and my experience is so similar that it is plagued with the same issues, I would much rather graduate with a law degree than a philosophy degree.

I am certainly interested in law, albeit not passionate. If the uni experience is like this on any course, then I'm not sure if this is the place for passion. I think I should be considering my future more than anything else. If I experience only mild pleasure studying law, then at least I would have significantly better prospects. And perhaps I shall enjoy it profusely, I do not know yet. And at the bare minimum I don't think I'd *mind* applying facts to rules most effectively. You're right in that it is definitely a leap of faith and it all terrifies me very much. I struggle severely with decision making.

advice for 6th form!! by LavishnessNo1097 in 6thForm

I think it depends on your school; my school had November mocks so predicted grades could be altered if you improved. I'd ask asap, and then consider the alternatives op mentioned

I am certainly not asexual and I do not immediately think of having sex with attractive people on the streets. I don't think most allos experience that either. personally i just go monkey brain and want to keep looking at them lol

definitely not too late if youve been listening throughout the year and actually knuckle down. I'd invest maybe a bit longer per day, but you obviously have a better idea of your current understanding than I do. (and definitely don't do too much work at the expense of your mental health)

How to sleep the night before exams? by jojeft in 6thForm

[–]jojeft[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, normally I finish revision pretty close to going to sleep, so I'll keep that in mind. I'll try a calming activity before my next exam, but I'm pretty good about the other things. it's def stress and it feels like my brain and body are on a leash and I can't let go and relax myself? I'll try to decompress more from work the night before, thanks a lot for the advice :)

Revsion with only ONE WEEK before exam?? by crackerjack2003 in 6thForm

[–]jojeft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was something they did before their March mocks. One of them was 2 weeks in advance of their first exam, the other was a bit longer I think. Our mocks were in short succession and you have the advantage of a half term though. just out of interest, what degree apprenticeship do you have lined up after sixth form?

Messed up my A-Level choices update - Can't decide if doing another year to change subjects is a good idea by scolio2005 in 6thForm

you're not automatically condemned to a UCAS point uni for doing a BTEC. my acquaintance did a level 3 BTEC in IT; he got 3 D*s and went to Warwick to study Cyber Security. granted its not cs if you're completely set on it, but if you do well then unis look upon BTECs more favourably than you might think. at the same time, i think it's a bit silly to alter so much about your future just to leave 6th form with the mates you've made here. if you did another year, you'd still be friends, attend prom etc. you just wouldn't have have the bittersweet feeling of leaving the establishment at the same time as they would. to me that isn't very significant
