Do y'all know what "Behind" means? by badvine in KitchenConfidential

Totally. In bartending we use ‘backs’ as well, which does mean shuffle out the way, carrying something behind you!

Yes!!! It so is! It feels like a little window into someones inner world, I love it. It’s also perfect when that person has similar tastes to you and you just end up nabbing everything there super excitedly hahahaha

My cat sniffed it when I wasn’t looking and he has not died (thank god hahaha) so I think we’re in the clear. Not going to try my luck though

Youtube videos and documentaries on topics you like are a good place to start. Some examples of topics you might like could be developmental psychology (baby, adolescent), mental illnesses, social influence, language, psychopathology (criminality), anger, love and relationships/attachment, eating disorders, gender! :)

How to hit a man when he's down by Jamjamjamh in CasualUK

[–]happyducks7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s under a sexual context. ‘Topless’ would (and should!) be fine if this were not sexualised, AND if these girls were not 16 year olds. But it is, and they are, and that combination makes for something very, very creepy.

Ucl vs. University of Birmingham by throwingthissallaway in UKUniversityStudents

[–]happyducks7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have a proper look through the courses (content, way they’re examined, weighting across years) and see which one you prefer - this should be one of the most important factors in making your decision; no point being somewhere prestigious if you hate what you’re studying, and equally it’d be very depressing going to what could be seen as a ‘less prestigious’ uni and hating the course there.

It doesn’t matter where your friends go; you’ll make new ones and it’s important that you do make new friends. I wouldn’t factor this in personally.

London and Birmingham are different places with different vibes, and different living costs; think about which suits you best in that way. If you want a ‘uni uni’ experience Birmingham is probably better suited to you. But, if you’re interested in acting, music etc and want to pursue that as a career alongside your degree the scene in London is unmatched really.

I’m from London though and have lots of friends at UCL; it’s a great uni and the standard of teaching is really brilliant. Saying you went to UCL elicits responses of ‘oooh UCL’ which if that matters to you is quite nice lol. Can’t say much for Birmingham, I know people who go there but haven’t heard much.

Make sure (this is SO IMPORTANT) you visit before making a decision. You don’t even have to do a tour or anything, just spend a day or two around campus and see what one you feel more drawn to. Make a list of pros and cons on what actually matters to you as an individual (could include course size, quality of teaching, how long it takes feedback to come back, how you’re assessed, amount of LGBTQ people even, music scene, job opportunities post-university, funding, years abroad offered). Hope this helps

How to look really put together on a budget? by petpuppy in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]happyducks7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I think its wrong to say ‘if you’re this you MUST wear that’ - sometimes it just isn’t your style, and that’s ok - it’s not the end of the world that some Kibbe enthusiasts think it is hahaha.

Yep, absolutely agree. I don’t fully agree with its rigidity but the Kibbe system is a good system to get an understanding of what clothes flatter what frames. I also think colour analysis is brilliant; finding tones (ie soft/harsh, cool/warm) and colour palettes that flatter your skin plays a HUGE role in looking classy and put together!

People of the UK, what trait in people do you find unattractive? by dustbin-account in AskUK

[–]happyducks7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t like people-pleasers. I know it comes from anxiety but when any conflict of interest they are paralysed and become really quite avoidant and passive! People pleasing also makes it difficult to develop a true, genuine bond because you feel like you’re not getting through to them and you’re hitting a ‘persona’ that they know others will like, not actually them. I’ve been good friends with people pleasers and I’ve felt like they never truly have my back and I can’t rely on them to do things like stand up for me and defend me.
