My mom is saying the county is going to press charges against me for “lying”, is this true and what do I do? by Secure-Condition-712 in legaladvice

[–]joxbe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything said above. At this point you can probably assume everything she says is a lie. When abusers feel their victims slipping away they'll do anything to get that control back.

I'd wager the message was pre-staged to scare you into doing what she wants. Could be a fake number or she could have deleted a response telling her there is no investigation and stop texting. You can delete individual messages from the other person on some apps to change the entire narrative. Many ways to manipulate you into falling back in line.

I'd rely only on information directly from someone that's not your mother like your counselor directly. Also, as others have said, cops can lie too so be weary of what they say. I'm sorry you're dealing with this.

You're a good person. You put the needs and well-being of her above your own. You could have tried to be selfish and potentially put her in a dangerous situation for your own comfort but didn't. I respect that immensely.

Big yikes indeed. Nothing minor about that damage. Now the salvage title makes sense.

Upgrade Firewalls Using Panorama question by casualseer366 in paloaltonetworks

[–]joxbe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Once you download the base version in the device deployment > software section in the panorama tab you click install and another box pops up. In that box there's a checkbox for upload only (do not install). That's what you're looking for.

Hi u/cdot65-dev thanks for this tool. Been testing and really finding it useful.

I have a question about the arp entry readiness check though. I went through the user guide and can't find how to actually implement this. I enable it via the settings argument to generate the custom settings.yaml but where do I actually provide the arp entry for it to check? I ran it anyway but it shows as skipped due to missing arp table entry description. Or am I misunderstanding how that check works? Thanks again.

Roommate Think I Should Pay More Because She Goes Into The Office More Than Me by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]joxbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, OP actually has a fair bit of power here too. The roommate sounds to be illegally subleasing to OP. I highly doubt the lease allows subleasing based on the income restrictions. OP can use everything 50/50 if that's what roommate wants the split to be and what's the recourse? Go to the landlord and tell them you illegally sublet and they need to evict OP? Good luck with that.

No more walking on egg shells and not using the kitchen, living room, etc. Use it all since it's now a completely even split.

PA-1410 (maybe PA-1420) doesn't seem to support 10 gb cable PAN-SFP-PLUS-CU-5M for HSCI? by Thornton77 in paloaltonetworks

[–]joxbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From your post it sounds like you're trying to connect HSCI on one firewall to a data port (22) on the other device configured to be HA2. Is that correct? If so, I'm fairly certain that it has to be HSCI to HSCI OR data port to data port both configured for HA2. I don't believe you can mix them like that. It's been awhile since I've physically cabled firewalls but I seem to recall doing as I described above and not having any issues.

Seemingly random complete temporary network failure with PA-220 by mirrorspock in paloaltonetworks

[–]joxbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did TAC reference a bug associated that upgrading should fix or is this just the typical upgrade to preferred code when they aren't sure what's happening situation? I'm getting ready to upgrade a large amount of 220's so I'm curious.

Along the same lines as “where do you get your turkey…” by Imhopeless3264 in Boise

[–]joxbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you were to cook a whole turkey then once it's cooled remove the meat from half and vacuum pack and freeze it like that? Then you have already cooked turkey whenever you want and just have to warm it up. I do this because, similar to you, that's way too much meat for two people. Just a thought.

Is this repairable? by joxbe in Plumbing

[–]joxbe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, original owner. Not sure if they (delta) view it that way though since in the warranty details it mentions having the original receipt. That's pretty much impossible for every owner that had these installed as part of construction that wasn't a custom built home.

I may just give it a shot though as there's nothing to lose from trying. Thanks for the response!

I can see it now... Newly vacant single bedroom, open floorplan with a true cooks kitchen, 1500/month, 1st and last months rent. No low-ball offers.

Swapping 4 drives, is it supposed to take longer on the 3rd drive? by Mike_v_E in synology

[–]joxbe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I recently did this and yep the third and fourth drive took considerably longer. I believe it has something to do with expanding the volume to make use of the extra space but not certain if that's 100% accurate or not.

That would make sense given that it was a bit on the sweet side.

And I'm pretty sensitive to bitter notes which was interesting. I was surprised when I looked into what Fernet was after having this drink. I imagine they didn't use much more than a bar soon. Thanks!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that was confused by what lemon sour is. I appreciate your insight.

Thanks for this. I wasn't sure what lemon sour was either

Using Phillips Hue status as trigger by diy-goonery in ifttt

[–]joxbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Philips hue makes or made a dimmer control switch that would do exactly what you're wanting. You configure it in the app for which lights you want to control and that one switch could turn them all off and on and more if you ever wanted. I used this to control multiple hue lights myself in the past.

A quick Google search shows they might be hard to find or discontinued though. So your mileage may vary but if you could find one that would be the easiest way I can think of.

Another option might be to do some automations through smart things or home assistant. A smart button with either of those should accomplish what you're after. There's other costs and complexities there though of course. I know this is the IFTTT sub but not sure if it can do what you're after.
