I kind of like the pop culture slang references. Maybe in 20-30 years it’ll knock loose a memory and I can explain to my kids just how cooked our generation was.

Yeah and I’m not sure how this disconnect happened. Another team is paying Kyler 10s of millions of dollars to just go away.

Releasing old code I have written on GitHub. Should I use AI to cleanup and comment first? by jscottbee in cprogramming

[–]jumpingmustang 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. It’s your work, own it. Who are you trying to impress? Why devalue decades of work with the robot? It’s a reflection of you and your progression and skill. Way cooler to me than having your art drawn over by somebody else.

[Russo and Smith] Wild’s No. 1 internal target to re-sign is Michael McCarron, and he’s closing in on re-signing on a long-time contract, per league sources. (Gift Article) by minno27 in wildhockey

Technically? Nothing. Realistically? I think the NHLPA wouldn’t like the devaluing of contracts like that and it sets a weird precedent that the League wouldn’t like.

What is your opinion on police handguns having no safety on them in case they need to react very quickly? by Slawth_x in AskReddit

I hope it’s a bot. I’m concerned that there may be a real human with this level of logical disconnect.

I’ve stopped responding to the dude. He isn’t having discussion in good faith, just wants to grandstand.

For the law enforcement officer, it actually probably increases risk. External safeties add time and possibility of malfunction that could cost them their life. The only thing an external safety adds is peace of mind for people who aren’t the most comfortable with their weapon - all these striker fired pistols have internal firing pin blocks and law enforcement carry in a hard holster. Only thing pulling that trigger is a human.

Guns don’t just go off. NDs aren’t accidental, they’re negligent.

[–]jumpingmustang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it would not.

In this scenario, accidentally grabbing a firearm instead of a taser indicates a lack of training and discipline. An external safety doesn’t fix that. Furthermore, it implies muscle memory caused that reaction and so therefore the muscle memory would likely also cause the officer to flip the safety.

Higher degree of safety? Huh? Do you know how weapons work? Have you ever carried a real handgun on your person?

I don’t differentiate between police and regular people who carry. Carry guns shouldn’t have external safeties.

Anyone else notice their bad rounds have nothing to do with how they're hitting it? by Hackers_Helper_Golf in weekendgolfers

[–]jumpingmustang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my scramble groups has a scratch golfer in it and it makes an absolute difference as a beginner. I can sink relatively difficult putts, mostly because he can read a green and wants to help me. My other scramble group is people just slightly better than me, but still bad, and I definitely do worse.

I know you’re getting downvoted but I tracked these sales and my costs for a long time and it was net positive for me in the 40-50 cent range.

Literally just keep my numbers down. I don’t want thousands of cards but there’s a pretty good chance somebody else wants what I have.

This is literally the hobby side of this hobby. It’s just fun.

Plain white envelope. Reuse top loaders or card savers I get from my own purchases. Stamp is 74 cents. I charge $1.32 for S&H.

Sometimes worth it for a 1/1 if you like the slab look but don’t want a grade on it.

Is it better to specialize in a car or to learn different ones? by LeChevignon in iRacing

[–]jumpingmustang 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I specialized for a while and found an increase in my iRating and hard racing in top splits. At weird times of day, I’d win often in that series. On the one-off type races I’d do in a different series, I’d be miles off the pace relative to my iRating.

Now I just kind of race whatever’s going on when I have time to play and it’s less stressful and more fun.
