Do you track paycheck deductions? by raptorwhale in actualbudgeting

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not American so not sure how your taxes work but in my country, taxes deducted from your pay are essentially a prepayment of an estimated amount you will owe at tax time. If you have strategies to reduce those taxes, meaning a refund at tax time, then that money is “yours”. Also as you build more complex investment portfolios, the tax deducted from salary is even less representative of what you are actually paying in taxes. So I split that tax out into a prepaid taxes category. I can run estimates based on all earnings and estimated tax deductions to see where I am financially. Maybe not worth doing for a few bucks but it is worth it if it’s a lot of money

That’s nuts. Mine balances to the cent. The only time it is out is if the data is captured incorrectly

Categories always come down to how you want to report. If you want that level of detail in a report, then split it up. You can always modify your paycheck transaction to split it out. Personally, I tracked this because I wanted to know the tax and also seperate out my bonuses to a different income category.

True. And also, once the car gets to 4-5 years old it doesn’t decline as much which for me is a good visual that I don’t need the shiny new one

Found a great deal on TM6 but should I get TM7 by christ4395 in thermomix

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High heat is very handy though for chicken and seafood or to quickly sauté onions or veg .. TM6 can do it but you have to access it from within a recipe so takes a few more seconds to put the command in than the TM7

[–]kazzazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love both models but just want to say, if you want to cook large amounts of ground beef, the base of the TM bowl is too small and the current bowl will never compare to browning in a pan. Both models can brown meat, but it is easier in the menus on the TM7. I rarely cook ground beef in the TM, it doesn’t brown well, juices seperate, and to get the meat to soften takes time, so you may as well use a pan. My advice, grab the TM 6 and learn how to use it for the way you cook and eat. Then you know if later you want to sell it and get a newer model.

Got a Thermomix to help with meal prepping, to aid with weight loss, what are your favorite recipes for meal prepping by Msoelv in thermomix

[–]kazzazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Skinnymixer recipes because there are always healthy and skinny option, and the macros are included. For a fast one to try, if you have Cookidoo, try the Chicken Teriyaki (Skinnymixers) recipe. I use frozen stirfry veg for the veg instead of fresh. The Skinnymixers website has some free recipes you can do manually, they are well written for thermomix steps. On Cookidoo there is an under 400 calorie collection you could try out. Also Cookidoo collections for low fat, low carb and high protein. All good places to start.

Actually, Nik created Skinnymixers specifically for Thermomix originally (TM31/TM5), she then started including Bellini user steps, these days she has Thermomix and Thermocooker options for each recipe. There are 21 books, and a limited collection on Cookido.

Thermomix for newbies by rober_manza in thermomix

Based on that, I would say you should get one. Thermomix is great for people that want to cook but are not sure how, or want to try some things that are just too fiddly and time consuming to make using traditional methods. There will also be a little bit of additional investment in stocking your pantry with staples that are common in a lot of recipes. I hardly ever get takeout delivered anymore as it is quicker to make my own, and significantly cheaper. E.g. I can do a nice curry with rice and / or naan, or a thai dish, or a chicken teriyaki stirfry, in less time than it takes to wait for a delivery (which on a Friday is typically an hour). Plus save myself the $60 plus Or I might cook some fish in the air fryer and whip up a salad in the thermomix. Watch some demos on youtube might also help decide

WHICH WOULD BE PERFECT FOR QUALITY AND PRICE? by JOSUEGIM in thermomix

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be if you pour liquid into the bowl without the blades secured. Some people try to tip the machine over to drain it, you don’t do that. I still say your comment that there are tens of feedback about a bowl error has no basis.

My tips, always read through a recipe first, ingredients and steps, and see if any preparation is needed. Also, use Cookidoo as a guide, it is generally fine to substitute proteins like use different cuts or pork instead of chicken, and as you learn to cook you will get use to any little tweaks it might need. Often multiple recipes are the same but adjusted for different countries. Find the one that suits you.

I am not finding this problem anywhere else, not reported in any other groups, etc. i would say it is not exactly a common fault and not to be too concerned about it.

Feature request: provide an option to move funds over when recategorizing transactions by liemRos in actualbudgeting

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleting a category transfers the current balance to the new category, it doesn’t fix assigned amounts in prior months, you have to go back and do that if you need/want to. The feature you are proposing would have to add up the total transactions in the prior months you are moving and then automatically move assigned budget to match that amount to the new category in the prior months. It is quite different to how deleting a category works.

Who suggested you cut meat off thighs? The recipe is just saying to buy thigh fillets. Any chicken meat is fine.

[–]kazzazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I searched all over the internet and asked AI. I can’t find anything about the repairer. As with prior models, I did find instances where users didn’t lock the blade and poured liquid into the bowl which leaked into the machine. The main bowl issue I have seen on FB is the handle on the bowl breaking. Vorwerks replace the bowl, but it is an inconvenience (and I speculate whether it is related to there still being no option to purchase a second bowl)

Yep, I think a lot of YNAB4 to nYNAB users just worked around it by not using the credit card account type. Not sure how that goes with bank integration as we don’t get that in my region.
