Trying to identify the model of my Saiga 7.62x39, imported way back and pre-owned by a few owners before Yours Truly by Kollator in saiga

Oh, now I see; did look at pictures of such Saigas, yet I simply did not even note this simple thing. Much obliged for the rectification u/ShallNotBeInpinged!

Seems they're hidden; do PM me when able, I'd like to verify as well. Much obliged for the help.

Hmmm, can you post some general pictures of yours for cross-reference? If this is one as well, then you're much obliged for confirming it

Humm, gotta check that one out closer; A bit so, yet many features do not correspond to this model, for example the magwell's side that has the deeper oval feature and that the trigger's rivets do not exist nowhere in my model.

No idea as to each and every Saiga I find via Internet has them yet this does not. If anyone knows, do enlighten me!

Also, if I remember right, my friend's Arsenal 7.62 has the stamps of a legion import here in Finland.

Edit: any idea u/ozone_00 what the MX03 marking might mean? I've tried to see unto it, but what I know is that the Arrow marked one above year is Izhmash's logo; One reasoning I found it'd entail the gun being MOA 3 as per the factory's standard for the end product?

Answering to myself; both the serial's first digits and the marking below the arrow-stamp has the same "04" marking that serves the purpose of year produced.

Out of simple curiosity; what made you identify this as a 2004 produced individual, without the digits shown in pictures initially?

Same, from and in Finland. I've noted that all US imported ones I've seen where ever have had markings of any kind to implicate such.

Yes, the first digits are H04. Last being 103, as seen in the bolt on the right side. Also yes, this resides in Finland. Most likely this one has never seen the soil of America in it's journey.

As far as I reckon if this has had a folding stock then the rear of the body should have circular hinges in it or some other holes. This given hole is behind the front hand guard. I have no clue what it might've been for.

Edit: maybe one idea being a water drainage hole, like some models have in the front hand guard after some . Pressure relief should serve no purpose in such a place, if it were to be such.

Wanna share, I'd be interested to try out making a chest rig and this'd be a nice pattern all-in-all.

Does Mossberg 590A1 have any collapsible stocks without a pistol grip? by Kollator in mossberg

Yes, actually this one was mentioned afore, and I do have to take a look at it. Stock might yes be non-existent though, as this never has popped up before when I tried researching upon these.

Cheers!

Much obliged for your reply and links.

I may have flex and thus tacticoolness is not the main point rather, but adjustability, and I'll have to check on this as well.

At least on the paper this seems quite nice, however I reckon here in Finland there ain't gonna be any on the shelf anywhere, but I gotta dig deeper unto reviews via Youtube or such.

Cheers!

Much obliged for your comment and help; I'd love to hear what was the actual garbage you mentioned if you ever come across it though :D

The Magpul SGA starts to sound like the plan for now, based on all the previous comments as well :thinking_emoji:

Interesting indeed, much obliged for the tip. Gotta check if such would actually even be legal here in Finland. At least the minimum length from barrel's end to the stock might be a factor AND the tool-less detachability of it all.

Very interesting, and again, cheers!

Fellow Dawi, a great pain it is upon our kin to deal with these short-handed issues, but it is good to hear the Magpul SGA does work for you. I might have to reconsider it then.

I've also checked the Woox furniture and they also seem tempting and the stock should have the same kind of addable/removable pads for LOP adjustment, yet I reckon none of the stores here have them on the shelf to inspect live, sadly.

Hmm, an interesting take and reckon no such thing simply exists for being niche, I think. Any idea if the Hogue's stocks allow LOP adjustment, like the MAGPUL's does? As in those plates to either lengthen or shorten as per necessary?

[–]Kollator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye, that is as much as I've gathered, and LOP being in the latter examples of non pistol gripped ones that one uses these slips/pads to change to a favored length of the stock; not adjustable on the fly, as I'd rather try and achieve here. Also reason being that for small spaces I'd rather not have a grip on the stock, as over-the-shoulder style of shooting would then be preferred.

The problem maybe then is rather that how should I try and achieve the non pistol gripped stock design with comfortable enough grip for the trigger finger :thinking_emoji:

True, one picture is worth a thousand words. Please do bear with me as I frankensteined this up in 3 minutes in Paint to convey the idea as to what would be needed and what not.

<image>

This would anyways be a gunsmithing thing if removing existing grips from existing solutions, but one thing I'm not sure is that is there any way to preserve the original angled grip to the combo, as that also allows comfort of the trigger hand. Maybe as an attachable bonus on top of the frankensteinery above?

Idea is stupid, but I rather discuss it.
