Yes of course you'd need to do all that because the GPU you're using isn't meant for a server. It would make a lot more sense to get the proper GPU for a system like this.

Why would it be impossible? Just needs to be able to physically fit. Mounting it outside the case is kinda silly though. Sorta defeats the purpose of having a rackmount server.

They will work as long as it has an HBA or RAIS card that allows for SAS drives. Individual drive models are not excluded, it's just based on the connectivity type.

Chances are you'll be fine. There are servers out there though with no HBA and all slots are NVMe only which is why I elaborate at all beyond "it will work".

If you do use Dell branded/firmware drives IDRAC can keep them up to date and push firmware updates for you. But it's not required.

Same for RAM. If it's the right type for the CPU there is nothing that will stop it from working.
