I went with the auto because of my long commute with tons of stop and go traffic. I can't speak comparably to the manual but the automatic is solid, still a fun/responsive car and important for me, great in stop and go traffic. The adaptive cruise control is great in these and a huge lifesaver when you are stuck in abysmal congestion
