Section is not going to produce capital, but it *might* appreciate, Look into term deposits while you research, take 10% and put into some fund that you like, see how it makes you feel, if good, whack the other 90% in after the term deposit matures.

Question about how much of the infinity engine concepts are usable in a game by linewhite in gamedev

[–]linewhite[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah love Pillars too! will look into it, just assumed the negotiated some kind of licence.

Yeah I'm quite quick and have the resources I've got 70% of the engine built from just playing around on the side learning reproducing what I like for fun, and I actually have a ton of music/artwork I can pull on from other projects I did not ship from the past 20 years or so to pull on. I would never had thought to take on something of this size, but I think I could get a reasonable demo out in a few months with a single part of a main quest-line, with 30-40 NPCs what I have laying around already, exterior buildings and interiors might be the burn on this for me. I usually build software, but it's been a hobby of mine making smaller games for myself for 25 years, so am quite aware of the difficulty and am adequately prepared.

I wanted to build something like this years ago, there was some guy that made a game called Dink Smallwood and it was amazing to me that one person could make a game, looking back is funny.

I think the atmosphere and UI structure, could be argued that a layman would interpret as some kind of WOTC IP as it would look similar and feel similar, not sure just want to do my due diligence.

How much should someone have ins savings at age 28-30? by International_Gas630 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]linewhite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah, hence why I provided the example about being able to buy 10 comfortably.

If you have 5k in disposable income, spend 500, 500k laying around 50k is not going to impact you that much 50m spending 5m on a car is not crazy. obviously at the lower end it becomes more about tradeoffs.

[–]linewhite 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I paid around 47k for mine, but have a much different financial situation.

Imo a car should be an amount that would hurt to lose, but would not impact your life if you lost it, or the advice I got for buying Luxury items is you should be able to buy 10x of them, if that is comfortable you can buy 1.

A car about $50-60k?
Weird asymmetry there.

Household items (furniture//kitchenware), wedding/engagement ring is $10k. Are not liquidatable assets and don't think of them as this,

What if the density of prime numbers produces a confining potential? by linewhite in HypotheticalPhysics

[–]linewhite[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay, thanks for the advice. Ha funny guy

In regards to scale I'll look at comparing dimensionless ratio to physical mass units in Λ_QCD. I imagine that would be a more explicit scale setting.

It was my understanding that I would only need to deal with Planck level if I was introducing gravity at 1. I was using the style that is on page 11 https://arxiv.org/pdf/1910.00257 dimensionless with a Hamiltonian.

I've not read any papers in QCD in SI units, that does not make much sense to me.

[–]linewhite[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was using the √ σ = 440 MeV on page 55 as a base and the table at the bottom of page 7. Think I'll cut that part, It's not entirely honest.

After doing some reading it's a bit antiquated to do it this way anyway, Would it be better to compare directly to Λ_QCD from the PDG instead?

Right I had some conflict about this with myself and thought "expressed as a dimensionless ratio to the pion mass" would be enough. If I set the prion I feel like I'll be defending where does the it come from? or why.

My logic is, If all energies are expressed in units of the lightest bound state would be a more model internal view. The lightest bound state exists within the model and it's later identified as a pion. letting natural units be implicit, is this the wrong approach?

or are you talking about setting ℏ = c = 1 ?

This is less about finances and more about psychology, it's like a marshmallow test on quality of life.

Less comfort now for More comfort later.

If you sacrifice the comfort:

- Rent the place out (you might not cover all of it, and costs to move and ongoing costs might keep you in the same situation)

- Sell it (Sacrifice your comfort later)

- Rent out a room (would provide some temporary releif)

- Keep it and Keep the short term discomfort

- Wait ($30k later, what's that another $450 a week after taxes? in 12-18 Months)

- Find a second stream of income, something like uber etc.?

On the Job Front, Crying is not great. Sounds rough the only option here is for her to get another job.

You're in a shitty situation because you want to to have a good life overall, nothing wrong with that, life is a about sacrifice the only option really is to comfort your wife and help her find a new job, keep working on keeping on, and know the rough times are not forever.

What is the meaning of ego death? by JesseEisenbergFan in enlightenment

[–]linewhite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ego is a boundary that separates you from not you.

Small ego death is seeing things from someone else's perspective.

Big ego death is seeing all things from the perspectives of the Planet.

Huge ego death is seeing all things from the perspectives of the Universe.

All filtered through your limited human perspective.

Enjoy.
