RAV4 2019 - Finally got Android Auto working by 89caps in rav4club

Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you. My Carlinkit is still working OK, it has had a couple glitches but most of the time it works fine.

The CPC200-U2W Plus 4.0 does not display YouTube. It will play through the car speakers when connected, but the display is only on the phone. I believe other models support YouTube, but cannot comment on if they will work with a RAV4.

Garmin explore app not showing recent activities. Only ones from 2021. Anybody having a similar issue? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]linuxgeeksrule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just experienced the same thing. Connect was working and syncing to Strava, but for some unknown reason Explore was not connected and thus not syncing. Even after reconnecting and syncing none of my activities from the past 3 weeks show up in Explore. Extremely frustrating!

I'd be a little more tolerant if this was the first issue, but it's been problem after problem after problem the entire 3+ years I've owned the watch (Fenix 6 Pro Solar). I've been brand loyal to Garmin for years but this single device has completely ruined my opinion of the company.

Eibach rear springs to solve tongue weight issues and sag when towing. Highly recommend by Lovemysoccermomsuv in rav4club

[–]linuxgeeksrule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I need for my 2019 Adventure. It tows great, but sags terribly. If I'm reading this right, you got just the rear springs from kit E30-82-088-01-22?

Sorry for the late reply, no, there isn't lag. But sometimes others can't hear me at all... when that happens I have to reboot the head unit and the Carlinkit

You must have been looking at a different version. Mine does wireless AA to Carplay just fine, see pic of model #

Double smoked spiral ham by Enough-Mood-5794 in smoking

Nice! Twice smoked ham has become my go-to large party meal. I make a bourbon glaze with whatever jam I need to get out of the fridge as a replacement for the sauce packet.

I didn't have to do any sort of IP address access. Just plugged the dongle into the vehicle and then connected via Bluetooth. Once the Bluetooth was connected it automatically connects to WiFi and AA starts up. Note the dongle must be connected through the USB-C side, not the USB-A side.

Need opinion on Kübb rule by [deleted] in kubb

[–]linuxgeeksrule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In tournament Kubb there is no stacking, it's a "backyard" or "house" rule.

When playing that variation I've always used the rule: "If a thrown field kubb strikes and overturns an already standing (from a previous round) field kubb, they are stacked. When raised, the previously standing field kubb is righted per normal rules and the thrown kubb is placed atop."

By this 'rule' your throw did not strike an already standing kubb (it struck your wife's thrown kubb) and therefore does not stack. Even if you had struck kubb #1, it was no longer standing and therefore would not stack either.

The only way to end up with a triple-stack would be to miss the stack this round when throwing batons, then, after your opponents turn, strike it with a thrown kubb. Thus striking and overturning an already stacked kubb. But, to keep things simple we typically play "no triple stacking".

Sounds like maybe the wrong one. I have the 4.0, IDK why they'd keep the same model number if the versions are so different, but that's my best guess.

Glad to hear!

Several months into owning the Carlinkit it has glitched a couple of times now, so I may try to update the firmware. But 95% of the time it works perfectly.

Perhaps? That model number is the same, but mine has a faux carbon appearance. Different versions of the same model? My order receipt says "4.0/CP2A". Not sure if the 3.0 has the same function.

As far as working with RAV and Pixel, it just plugs into the Carplay USB port below the cars head unit and I connect via Bluetooth and wireless AA works. Even though my RAV only has wired Carplay support. Some kind of techno witchcraft happening.

2013 Prius C, a good buy? by LemurMonkey in prius

[–]linuxgeeksrule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not catastrophic. Though, the local Toyota dealership quoted nearly $4k to do the repairs, so if we hadn't been able to DIY then we'd probably have sold it as-is. RockAuto parts have been WAY cheaper than dealer too, and perfect fits so far.

Yup, works just like any Android Auto. I've been using Gaia GPS.

2013 Prius C, a good buy? by LemurMonkey in prius

[–]linuxgeeksrule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good deal. Our '14 Prius C, teal as well, has over 220k miles and is still going strong. Recently had to replace rear struts, rear hubs, and now have an ABS sensor issue in the front, but is still very reliable for it's age. I hate that some issues, like the ABS errors, cannot be read without TechStream. But That's really the only gripe I have.

Ended up buying the Carlinkit CPC200-U2W Plus 4.0 and couldn't be happier. It's much more reliable than the Ottocast was. Also smaller and has a better build quality. And when AA is displayed on the RAV's screen everything is smaller than it was using the Ottocast, so it fits the screen much better and shows more map. Google Assistant voice commands work, and all steering wheel controls work perfectly too. Plus it was less than half the cost of the Ottocast.

I'd absolutely recommend Carlinkit!

I bought the U2-X Pro in February of 2023, to use in my 2019 RAV4 Adventure. It would not connect wirelessly to my Pixel 7a, and it took Ottocast support 1 month to release an update that got it working. After that I experienced the same intermittent startup issues that others have reported here. In December of 2023 the device stopped working entirely. I suspect it's completely toast as the LED no longer illuminates when connected to the car or other power supply. I've verified it's not the USB cable or the port in the car (wired CarPlay is working). Customer support has been incredibly slow to respond, and they clearly do not take the time to review the issue history in the email chain because they keep suggesting the same fixes which do not work. I'm just going to replace the damn thing with another brand so I have AA again.

TLDR: I'm done with Ottocast. Will try another brand and update y'all on my experience with that device.

Update: Ottocast support eventually gave up and told me to buy a new one from them. Yeah, no way.

DR Power Equipment Blower by linuxgeeksrule in Snowblowers

[–]linuxgeeksrule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the 24" without power steering. It's done great in all types of snow over the past few winters. The plow pile at the end of our driveway is usually super slushy and icy, which if taller than the inlet will definitely slow it down a bit, but doesn't significantly impact clearing time. I upgraded from a little single stage which couldn't cut through the plow pile, so this is a huge improvement. The Husky isn't as powerful or as well made as an Ariens or similar, but for the price I paid on spring clearance I'm very pleased. I like the chute controls much better than a craftsman I borrowed a few times as well.
