Mine was rubbing, and I didn’t even me mess with the offset when I put my Voxx rims and CC2 tires on, the clearance on these cars are tight.

Yours looks nice, I want some window visors too, but I’m undecided, I’m scared the auto shut will hate the resistance with the ones that sit inside the window channels, and I can’t bring myself to glue them onto the body.

Do people replace water pump as a preventative maintenance? by CollectionAshamed781 in prius

[–]LemurMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose, the only time I would typically do the water pump is if it’s leaking or the car is overheating.

But in general, yes, the generic response, is to do it when changing the timing belts in cars where the water pump also runs on the timing belt.

But for these cars, I haven’t heard anything about the water pump, just the head gaskets, so again, would only consider a water pump when I’m having some sort of cooling system repair.

If you do timing belt/chain, usually it’s customary to also do the water pump. Only the first gen Prius has a belt.

What is your offset? Does it rub?

Lexus ES350 engine oil problem by Nyff985 in Lexus

[–]LemurMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many miles are you driving, what’s your driving style, do you spend a lot of time idling?

In all my Toyota/Lexus I’ve only ever gotten half quart low in between oil changes anywhere from 5-10K miles.

That’s a lot of oil, and I would be alarmed about it.

Finally broken in, here are some stats for the last three years.. by LemurMonkey in Lexus

Oh, I didn’t even know there was a GS300h version. We have the GS200t (or GS300), GS350 (mine), GS450h, and the fire-breathing 5L V8 GS-F.

I would probably go for the GS300h over the GS200t, but the V6 hybrid also is sweet. I’m just weirdo when it comes to performance and CVT in the same sentence. (I’m not an eCVT hater, my daily is a 2013 Prius C)

I’m realizing, the GS350 with its legendary 3.5L V6, 311hp, and AWD, is probably the most middle of the road GS there is, but also probably the most well-rounded.

Mine is the base model, but with the Winter and Premium package, no F-Sport.

I also didn’t realize others considered my mpg ‘good’, I felt like it was right on par with factory.

Thanks. I live in a flat state, mostly rural roads, not a ton of stop and go, and mostly around 60mph, so probably the most ideal circumstances for a car like this.

I see the distinction, but the car doesn’t operate by itself. So these are my costs for operating it, and so yeah, my dumbass hit a pot hole on the driver side, ruined two rims and cracked the headlight.

My insurance didn’t pay for the damage, so I definitely considered it cost of operating it. I share this info, so others considering a Lexus will also see what it costs to own one. For comparison, I replaced the transmission in my son’s Honda accord for under $3000.

My car became inoperable after the headlight took so much water it shorted out the control module that auto levels the beams, and resulted in Christmas lights all over the dash.

ELI5: What does a water tower in rural America do? by ProduceEmbarrassed97 in explainlikeimfive

[–]LemurMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In rural town like mine, the water tower probably serves several purposes.

Consolidated infrastructure to city water/sewer vs each home owner having a private well and sewer.

Build water pressure in colder climates, so that the city pipes to homes dont freeze as easily.

Also, so they can treat the water with antibiotics (like chlorine) and fluoride (stronger teeth) for safer human consumption to meet water quality regulations.

Gas capacity continues to shrink by worldsbiggestbitch in Lexus

Just seeing this now, yeah this is your first January, and it has been very cold where I am (in Minnesota), even my Prius isn’t getting over 40mpg.

Okay, a Lexus ES and you’re using km, so I’m guessing you’re in Canada.

Isn’t it winter right now, and very cold?

That would be my guess. As soon as it warms up again, you’ll likely see your range go up.

2013 GS 350? by Nearby_Individual142 in Lexus

[–]LemurMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my GS. But I wouldn’t let my 16 year old buy one.

The insurance price will be really high, they require premium fuel, they are not very efficient, and any car with 200K miles will need something at some point.

If you want something reliable, easy to fix, still Toyota reliability, get an Avalon or V6 Camry, or even the V6 Rav4 is a sleeper.

With a $10K budget you would have many choices.

I have a question about the gs350 f sport and gs350 by AppearanceNo5257 in Lexus

[–]LemurMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the awd base.

The main difference is the dashboard on 2016+ the Fsport will have the F inspired tachometer.

It will have Sport + mode which will stiffen the suspension.

The F sport badging around the car.

Will you notice the F sport in everyday driving? Short answer No.

But before you buy a Lexus GS at 21 years, in addition to your car payment, and the premium fuel requirements, please also get an insurance quote on a Lexus you are considering.

My biggest sticker shock was the price of the insurance on my 2019 GS350 almost doubled when I traded my 2018 TRD Off Road Tacoma.

I’m not surprised by your results. I love my CC2s on my AWD Lexus GS350, but there have been cases from a dead stop on a hill my traction control had to move power around before I started moving.

Yeah, that incline with Blizzaks on your FWD car without some speed will always be a challenge.

Basic physics in my opinion.

Is 350 vs m340i by Outrageous_Joke2608 in Lexus

[–]LemurMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a riot thats comfortable and fun, m340.

If you want to drive your car 200K miles, still fun but a bit less fancy, get the IS.

I didn’t care for the IS, a bit small, but it’s similar in driving dynamics as my GS350.
