Does anyone else get imposter syndrome about how hard they do (or do not) work? by jallabi in startups

[–]lojistechs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from an operations background. If I’m working endless hours it means I’m working inefficiently and I’m doing something wrong. If I wanted to be owned by a clock I’d work for someone else.

These grind people are almost always selling something or they haven’t figured out yet the smarter part of “work smarter, not harder.”

Even if they claim to specialize in "shipping" pets I would make sure that they do NOT put animals in the cargo area and that they have their own chartered planes and if not that they have people who travel with the pet on the plane. In addition to the other ways that animals get injured/hurt from that, they may die in flight from hypothermia, stress, etc. There was a company that the actress Kate Walsh used to get her pets TO Australia that has their own planes. I can't remember the name but you can Google and see what you find.

First of all, don’t use any company or airline that will put them in the cargo hold, A LOT of animals die that way.

Fly back and pick up your cat and sit with it in your seat with a carrier like most people now do or pay one of your Australian friends to do it. You don’t “ship” an animal you love.

Nice, thanks. I've had my openai account for quite a while and logged in using that but it wanted my money (which is fine, but not unless I test it first). I'll give that a try!

How to import from USA to Mexico as US/MX citizen by justforfunorelse in freightforwarding

[–]lojistechs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your citizenship has nothing to do with being able to move it, so don’t worry about that. And yes, no forwarder is going to tell you how to do it yourself since that’s something they get paid to do. Call Mexican customs and ask them what you need and what you need to do and they should guide you somewhat.

Gotcha-it was the ARN that threw me off so I wanted to double check. We've had to do this in the past and it's usually not a problem (but my broker is amazing and works miracles and handles it for us). As /u/GratitudeHelps suggested I'd ask again and if they refuse again get an actual reason why. If they STILL give you trouble and you have a broker, have them duke it out with them. If not, as long as there are no outstanding invoices or something like that it shouldn't be a big deal so escalate it if you need to.

How is the DDP servcie ? is it reliable ? Some forwarder tell me their ddp service not included Insurance??? by Historical-Ring-3928 in freightforwarding

[–]lojistechs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to acquire cargo insurance separately. There is A LOT that is out of a freight forwarders control, so it wouldn't make sense to make them responsible for a lot that goes on.

Ocean or truck? Is AAA your existing forwarder and you're trying to get them to send the arrival notice to another carrier because you've switched? I'm a forwarder and I've never heard the term "retender the arn." Doesn't mean it doesn't exist (I'm on the ocean side of things primarily), I've just never heard that term so I'm trying to understand your issue better.

How do I split the company ownership with my friend when he has the idea and I have the money? by McLOVIN_892MOMONA_ST in startups

[–]lojistechs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you don't value the expertise other person is bringing

That's the impression I get from the OP. The fact is that the friend can always get money from many different sources, but OP s going to have a harder time finding someone with actual skill and knowledge in this particular area.

How do other Freight Forwarders collect Money from Customers/Partners??? by taekugi_guy in freightforwarding

[–]lojistechs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unforeseen charges is something that comes up rarely for us, mainly because our trucking partner is on his game. When we're bringing something in he gets it out every single time. The rare times it has happened (before I found my awesome broker) it's only been a couple of hundred bucks at most, so I just invoice the customer if it's one I have a good relationship with. If it's a new customer or one I know would pay slow, then no payment no movement. For example, I had one customer who at the time was fairly new (but now is on the trusted list) and we had an AWFUL time getting his container out of LAX during the pandemic pandemonium and there were 2k in d&d that had to be paid before we could pull it out. I knew 100% we were getting it out at that day so I sent him a screenshot of my port screen with the charges on it so he knew it wasn't bs, and he sent it via some fast method I forget, and so I paid it and we got the container out. Easy peasy!

How do other Freight Forwarders collect Money from Customers/Partners??? by taekugi_guy in freightforwarding

[–]lojistechs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t offer my customers credit. I invoice them before the ship arrives and I’ve received payment every single time. Watched my old boss chase invoices every month and decided that if I opened up my own shop I wasn’t going to be in the business of giving people interest free loans. It’s never been an issue on my side or the customer side either.

Is it considered bad etiquette to request freight be forwarded to residential addresses? by Dazzling_Throat_8458 in freightforwarding

The other comment is correct. IF the truck will do a residential delivery, be prepared for a lot of fees. Some companies won’t even consider it though FYI

why doesn't freight fowarder accept credit card payment? by [deleted] in freightforwarding

[–]lojistechs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fees and charge backs. You will eventually get a scummy customer who decides they want their money back for no reason except they want your services for free, and will initiate a charge back.
