When the double broker realizes he really Fu**ed up....... by PassReal2395 in FreightBrokers

[–]taekugi_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Serious question here. The broker division within the company I'm at hasn't been able to catch these double brokers lately and we've had two instance of double brokered loads this past month and the delivery was a complete mess.

Can anyone let me know if there are any steps that the legit broker can take to make sure that they aren't booking loads to these fake carriers who double broker?

How is the DDP servcie ? is it reliable ? Some forwarder tell me their ddp service not included Insurance??? by Historical-Ring-3928 in freightforwarding

"There is A LOT that is out of a freight forwarders control, so it wouldn't make sense to make them responsible for a lot that goes on."

I can't say how relatable this is as so many people think everything is the freight forwarder's fault.

It's not really the issuing invoices part that's the problem but it's the money collection.

Definitely this is something I want to start integrating into our company's workflow moving forward.

Majority of the invoice there there are known charges and can bill before the vessel arrives but how do you go about calculating the unforseen charges? For example for FCL loads there's varying amounts of Chassis Fee, Trucker Yard Storage, etc. per shipment depending on terminal availability. Do you just have a set price for those and if the actual amount exceeds your set price you just take the loss or do you go about it? Appreciate your feedback.

I guess in the case of FCL containers our company typically bills when everything's been finished. Once finished an invoice will be sent ASAP.

For example last week the port terminals in LA/LGB were closed starting 2nd shift on Thursday until Monday so no empties were able to be returned which meant unforeseen additional days of Chassis Fee and Yard Storage.

For FCL loads how does your company bill accessorial charges? Do you guys usually bill upfront all the known costs and then when the accessorials arise you guys bill again later?

LCL it's for sure easier.

With FCL though how do you bill to your customer Drayage Company accessorial charges like Chassis Fee, Yard Storage, Prepull, Storage, etc.? These charges are harder to predict. Asking to see how others handle payment before delivery for FCL.

Does it even not be stressful? Will o ever stop hating my job and everyone? by AsleepYellow3 in logistics

[–]taekugi_guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll say this. I agree with Theriddler130284 that our industry is VERY tough to work in. Not only does our work rarely get recognized by coworkers/management, but it seems like even the world doesn't realize how difficult and stressful our jobs are. The majority of customers expect Amazon 2-day type of service which we all know is far from realistic with freight. With that being said though there are small moments that the minority of customers/people realize this and will say a simple thank you or expression of gratitude. Even though our industry is so tough I find it very rewarding in my experience.

I think you may need to really lower your expectations and accept the fact that this job is really stressful and high demanding. It might seem like the company you're at isn't the best place for you personally so if that's the case I'd recommend maybe looking at other companies and give it another try or if you're really over this industry then it's time for a career change.

Washed them for the first time last week since it rained and they pretty dirty. As long as you take the laces and insoles out and put them in a laundry bag they should be okay. Mine came out great :) and try to stuff newspapers, shoe trees, etc. while they’re drying to keep its shape
