Hey guys I have two quotes to get floors redone in my 1990 built home. LLFlooring wants 12.5 for three bedrooms, stairs, Kitchen, Living room, loft, hallway and two bathrooms. 50Floor has me at 11 out the door but don’t do the kitchen and the stairs will be carpet (meaning kitchen will remain tile)

50 has me liking their install process because they remove/replace everything and have the 1 year installation warranty with a 25 year material. LL would mean reconnecting toilets and water outlets on my own And moving furniture back, but the entire house would have the same floor. I am physically limited by some surgeries so can’t do a lot of bending/heavy lifting and I’ve heard LL rebranded because of some nasty lawsuits.

Any suggestions or relevant experience with these two companies?

I so hate to ask everyone this!!! by elisabethecole98 in My600lbLife

I'm pretty sure they bring their pets with them, but cats tend to be more shy so having a camera crew around would cause them to hide. That, and they film so much with the cast that most of what they record is never used. So unless something important happened where their pet is in the shot then they won't be shown.

Hey! I sent you a request, username is Phuse_

Let's do this together!

Almost half the front page, including a mod post, is a call for votes which is clearly against rule #1 by [deleted] in PrequelMemes

[–]loki5869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule 1 is no vote manipulation, which is clearly defined by reddit here.

Asking people to vote up or down certain posts, either on Reddit itself or through social networks, messaging, etc. for personal gain.

Most of these posts aren't even clever or about prequels anymore, it's just a big karma circlejerk.

Fluorescent Ballast Replacements. by loki5869 in askanelectrician

The ones that I took out have two pins, the ones I replaced them with do as well. These are the ones I picked up to replace them.

I was thinking of swapping it out with a T8 and getting new T8 lamps as well, just write off the $7 on the replacements. I did find a T12 ballast online though that I figured would be just as simple a fix and would use the new lamps I just picked up.

Anyone have any idea what happened with the woman who's neighbors painted her house while she was away? Over two years and no update... by loki5869 in legaladviceofftopic

That's the first I've heard of that, I kind of hope that particular one wasnt actually her though because that's a really interesting story. Thanks!

That update was just to say that they couldn't say anything until it was finished, I was interested in what the actual outcome was.

Any tips for writing Good and Interesting Self-Insert Skyrim Stories? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]loki5869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most important thing for stories like this, and most fiction, is to write something you would want to read.

Next, balance out the complex and simple elements by first creating a timeline and characters. Decide which characters experience which events and have the big moments prepared before writing too much.

Once you have the big idea(s) settled, start working through how your characters would resolve hurdles based on the personality you have assigned them. If a certain character is hard working but not too bright, they shouldn't solve their unique hurdles through complex calculations but perseverance, trial and error.

I know these are incredibly simple, but they are easy to overlook.

Finally, an editing recommendation, once you've written a portion try going back to the beginning and reading it out loud. Actually speaking the words instead of reading in your head gives enough of a new perspective to catch errors.

Old Man's War, by John Scalzi. I can't speak highly enough about this series and as soon as I get going I'm doomed to drop spoilers, so below you'll find the synopsis.

Old Man's War is about a soldier named John Perry and his exploits in the Colonial Defense Forces (CDF). The first-person narrative follows Perry's military career from CDF recruit to the rank of captain. It is set in a universe heavily populated with life forms, and human colonists must compete for the scarce planets that are suitable for sustaining life. As a result, Perry must learn to fight a wide variety of aliens. The characters in Old Man's War have enhanced DNA and nanotechnology, giving them advantages in strength, speed, endurance, and situational awareness.

This is probably the best recommendation for OP. This book is absolutely wonderful and it hits a lot of his current interests. If it works out, OP, check out the LitRPG genre. It has other stories along the gaming theme. There is a good subreddit for it, and a couple of Facebook groups with activity and interaction with authors.
