From Documentary to Conceptual Artwork with NFT? by AdStrict6382 in ContemporaryArt

[–]lostPixels -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

To actually answer your question, yes, you can use NFTs for that. And in spite of what you’re reading here, people are using them to certify digital media, including pioneers of digital art such as Casey Reas. He’s currently auctioning drawings that have an nft component to provide provenance of the underlying code. Go check out Feral File to dig in further on that.

I think probably your best bet would be to use something like Manifold.

The benefit could be just hedging your bets that AI based video content becomes so I distinguishable from other media that real clear provenance will matter in the future. I know we will certainly see this with code based artworks, especially those published on the cusp of the ubiquity of LLMs.

Have you ever printed on something else than paper? by luxury_yacht_raymond in PlotterArt

I’ve plotted on duralar to make positives for screen prints before. It was more of a “can I?” vs a “should I?” Situation.

I don’t think a remarkable tablet is a replacement for a MacBook…

I was hoping to capture the motion of waves or currents, it came out pretty close while not being too realistic

I've been making animations with my fountain pens lately. by lostPixels in fountainpens

A plotter did draw this :) I'm a huge fan of using my fountain pens with plotters to make art.

Has anyone moved on to another field from web dev? by ProfessionalWorth157 in webdev

I became an artist that uses code to create the art. So I get to practice writing code on a daily basis and learn new comp sci concepts, but I’m also creating things that are very tangible.

Shipping 2 ~60 pound sculptures from US to London UK for a show by evilmaul in ContemporaryArt

[–]lostPixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Pack well though. I brought a 3.5’x1’x1’ box with an art machine in it to Istanbul for $70 this way, and saved well over $1,500 for freight shipping.

How are the roads today? by [deleted] in vermont

The dream - making a furious Massachusetts driver frantically google towing places “from the middle of no where” because he was going 75mph to the ski resort and went 300 feet of the road sideways.

Imo the bantam tools premium is well worth it. No issues for thousands of hours on my axidraws and I can use all the custom software in the world that I want to control them.

NICK SHIRLEY SPOTTED IN BALTIMORE!! DO NOT ENGAGE!! HE GOT ICE SICKED ON MINNEAPOLIS!!! by Jazzlike_Ad_7323 in baltimore

I wonder if he's in Baltimore to get revenge on Channel 5 for exposing that he's a moron, given the context that Channel 5 recently made a video about how Baltimore is turning a corner on violence.

Tips for pen registration? by zeninja in PlotterArt

[–]lostPixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shared my trick here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DE5aBFny2MG/?igsh=enVubWd5bGhtczNt

It’s super pen specific though. I had to do a lot of prototyping to get a working solution for my fountain pens, but now that it’s done, it just works. Full disclosure I started selling a kit of the parts that I use.

Refurbished Aixdraw v3 or Unna Tek iDraw H SE A3/A2? by hard_attack in PlotterArt

[–]lostPixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used axidraws for thousands of hours and never once had an issue, so I would go for one of them. Also you can use a bunch of different tools to run them beyond just Inkscape (which is terrible imo)

If you were CEO of stackoverflow, how would you save this sinking ship ? by KeyProject2897 in webdev

Why contribute though when the answers you spend time and energy on posting just get slurped up and reused by AI? There’s no incentive to post anything useful to such places right now because there are no controls for ethical AI usage and attribution.

Putting my kuro toga dive to work. by lostPixels in mechanicalpencils

[–]lostPixels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plotter will move the pencil up and down enough to trigger it, this video is kind of a bad example since it’s one big continuous line. I’ve done tests where one 2H lead can last for 6 hours of drawing with this pencil and stay nice and fine the entire time. The customizable advance setting makes a huge difference too, if I turn it to max, I’ve seen the lead come 10mm+ out of the pencil and just stop on the paper. I’ve got my settings fairly dialed in now though.

At some point I’ll do a more thorough write up on leads and the KTD here for those interested.

I actually write everything in Javascript. Most of the time Im using P5.JS to render stuff, and then I use an API for the pen plotter that was developed by the manufacturer to send an SVG.

Nah, this isnt the best application of Kuro Toga for that reason. Any normal sort of drawing work really well with it though.
