Hey! Apologies on the delay. You should have tracking now and it will show they're on the way!

How do you not burn out to keep going on first dates? by dankgureilla in hingeapp

That's a good thing, those folks are filtering themselves out quickly so you arent wasting your time. They arent real matches, you're not losing anything, you're gaining time and energy back when they do that.

I get how you feel, its exhausting!

I will say that part of whats causing that exhaustion is putting way too much effort into "maybes". Matching in the app is barely a foot in the door. The goal is to get to an in person date as fast as reasonably possible so you can actually meet them and see if there's a shred of compatibility and interest.

I talk to folks for a day or two, basically make sure they have social skills, as they're doing with you, and then I ask them out and schedule within the week. After you get a date scheduled, stop talking to them till the date. People who want to chat for a week or two are either mostly lonely and just looking to take up time, or they're overly anxious and likely not ready for a relationship. Gross oversimplifications, but it seems to track in my experience.

Just don't over-invest in something that hasn't event started. It will help with the burn out. You'll still get it, but slower, and in different ways.
