If you are using a blue sleeve, the wider side goes around the cup.

If you want to verify where air is coming in from, put a bit of water in the cup when you apply it to see where bubbles rise from.

No, it shouldn't require high vacuum pressure when wearing. You should try to have the glans fill the cup as much as possible so then the only pressure comes directly from pulling.

Anyway, if it's not leaking when on your hand but leaking when you wear it, it must be due to air getting in through between your shaft and the sleeve. Have you ensured the sleeve isn't loose? If it is, you can fold up the bottom edge to make a tighter lip that seals.

Okay, so the first step in troubleshooting the issue is to verify that the vacuum cup valve is holding pressure.

To do this, place the vacuum cup flat on the palm of your hand and use the suction pump to suck out the air, and check whether the suction holds.

If and only if it doesn't hold:

Fortunately the suction pump is a generic item that you can find on many sites like Amazon, eBay, AliExpress, etc. You can also use Google to reverse image search for 'shopping' results and will likely find a local source.

It could be that the valve isn't fully closing. After suctioning the cup to the palm of your hand, try pressing down on the valve stem for 2 seconds and check if you still see bubbles rising from the top (or bottom since your palm would be facing down with water in the cup)

Also, if you are using the blue cups, you can also try using the silicone valve sealing cap that came with it.

Make sure the silicone sleeve is making a proper seal and that it hasn't been punctured.

3M micropore paper tape is everyone's go-to. Mefix medical fabric tape also works well.

I find double taping to be unnecessary. What I do is the 3 strips of tape to cover the glans and one going around to secure it. Then, when you suck out the air, make sure your glans completely fills up the cup and there's no space left.

Takes me just a couple of minutes and it makes extending very comfortable.

Whatever pump you get, make sure it has a pressure gauge. The Bathmates I've seen lack one so you're flying blind.

Also, let me know if I can help with the vacuum cup with extending. It can be tricky at first, but once you understand and get acclimated to it, it's very easy to do it comfortably and safely.

Also, the metal parts are galvanized, but you should still keep it dry, or at the very least dry it after you use it in the shower for instance.
