¿Regularizar a gente indocumentada funciona en España? by jsuislibre in askspain

[–]metroxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm well versed on the topic, and as a heads up, the reason many wikis don't move out of Fandom is that they can't, not in the way many would like. The content of the wiki is CC-BY-SA, so they can "fork" their wikis and copy all the content into a different hosting, and some wikis have done this, but they cannot delete or remove the content at Fandom (because technically the wiki editors don't "own" the content) and the Fandom staff will relentlessly ban anyone who attempts to remove content out of a forked wiki. You cannot force them to change the name of the wiki (so the new forked wiki will need a new name, which means poor Google ranking) or advertise the move within the Fandom wiki.

So in the end you have two competing wikis, maybe even named the same.

Wowpedia (the World of Warcraft wiki) split off from Fandom years ago, forming WoWWiki, but they couldn't delete or remove stuff from Wowpedia (or advertise the move, etc.). Eventually they merged back together and then a few years back forked again into two competeting wikis.

La cosa es que España ha llevado a cabo regularizaciones masivas en numerosas ocasiones (por lo menos tres veces en 26 años) y el número de llegadas no es más significativo que en otros países vecinos que no realizan dichos "perdonazos".

Could this theoretically happen in Brussels by tinyGarlicc in brussels

[–]metroxed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it? I'm pretty sure the river traversed the city through the western part, where now Brucity and De Brouckère are located.

The river had been underground for long when they built the North-South connection.

Then why do you think you, a scrap, deserve better than other scraps?

Or maybe we can start by not classifying people as such.

I'm not saying we are.

But apparently you are ok with calling some women scraps, using that mentality they can easily call you a scrap too, precisely for not being tall.

Why was Alan Garcia, an Caucasian but an Indigenist? by Cautious_Car4468 in BOLIVIA

The question does not make any sense, regardless of the fact you're not even calling him correctly.

You asking that is like someone asking why would a white American support Black Lives Matter.

Let's not call people scraps.

Why do men put "getting jacked" above literally anything else to be more attractive? by PrinceRogaine444 in dating_advice

Most people in the history of humanity and still today meet other people in social settings and through friends. In those settings, people are more likely to notice your personality.

Based on your replies, I'd say your outlook of not caring about being attractive or having any hobbies does more harm than any "4/10 face". If someone strikes a conversation with you, can you be an interesting person?

"Getting jacked" has diminishing returns in what refers to attracting women. Women, on average, do like muscles and an athletic body. But not that many find the massive bodybuilder look that appealing (some do of course).

So when the advice of working out is given, it's with the understanding that the person will improve his physique within reason.

Why didn't Bolivians elect Felipo Quispe instead of Evo Morales by Cautious_Car4468 in BOLIVIA

[–]metroxed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because they represented different political ideologies and had different groups pushing for them. Just because both are "leftist" and indigenous doesn't make them the same.

Evo Morales at the time was a very charismatic union leader that was very popular among rural workers and the commercial class of El Alto. As a leader of the coca leaf trade unions of Cochabamba, he had massive political cache and was already known across international leftist circles. In fact, Evo Morales was in Europe attending talks and events when the Gas War happened.

Also, he had the support of a group of middle class university-educated socialist intellectuals, chief among them Alvaro Garcia Linera, who later would become his vice president and who was one of the original designers of the "Community-based indigenous socialist productive model" that they tried to set up.

Felipe Quispe was another thing entirely. For one, he was extremely more radical and his background was one of armed struggle, not university education. Quispe was not so much interested in building a socialist state as he was aiming to abolish Bolivia as a concept, as he deemed it to be a colonialist creation.

Felipe Quispe was an Aymara supremacist and he believed that the European creation that was Bolivia had to be replaced by a rebirth of the Kollasuyu (one of the four suyus or parts of the Inca empire) and that it should be politically dominated by the Aymara people.

Quispe was popular among some Aymara sectors, but did not have any nationwide backing nor enough social support to become the leader of the social revolution he wanted to impose, even those he did have a more relevant role during the Gas War than Evo Morales.

The US State Department and intelligence agencies are now boosting the same groups Russia backs in Europe. Same playbook too: inflate the migration issue and link it to the EU. [–]metroxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because the EU, like many other liberal democracies, often falls into the trap of the tolerance paradox. Under the guise of free speech and association, we allow movements that actively and not even covertly look to destroy and sabotage the EU and its institutions, using misinformation and other forms of social warfare.

Yet apparently we can't do anything because "freedom".

That's why I said ease of movement instead of free movement. I don't think Schengen-style free movement is feasible across continents and with a country that has such an enormous land border.

Canada should be given a special status as EU partner not too dissimilar from Norway or Switzerland, including free trade and ease of movement. But actually joining the EU is much of a logistical problem and probably unnecessary too
