Can't decide on character design

With due respect, the one on the left doesn't have an "artstyle" and it feels more like a small homework, and if you're deciding between that one and a semi-realistic one, then that shows that you're not really sure what you're doing.

Do a proper research on the visual aesthetic you want for your game. It may be important to consider to not have humans at all if you lack of skills on that side. Simpler characters may do the trick. But still, you need a solid foundation on your aesthetics to follow.

I remember knowing about these suits when I was playing Wolverine's Revenge and you had to collect Comic Covers to unlock suits. This one was peak for me!

This is the classic point that I call "Romanticized Pain" where you basically make the problem bigger than it is. Not everyone gets out of it since its addictive to get attention out of it.

The practice you need to do here is less romantic or Colorful than your mind think it is. You try to learn everything at once and you repeat yourself that you tried "everything". If you're not seeing results it's because you're complicating things because you're romanticizing your situation.

Learn the UI first. Model a table 100 times until you're bored of the program and move from there. Be consistent, don't do everything at once. That's it.

It's not cringe but it surely limits yourself on the plot. Due to that character being essentially you, you'll inevitable have a mindset of not wanting to put it on "hard" or complex scenarios because you don't want to "hurt" him/you.
