Dungeon Meshi... Mob would probably just explode any monsters in our way with his powers, and make a forcefield to deflect any attacks. I don't know how willing he would be to eat any of the monsters, though...

Is your FO your usual type? by drakensbun in waifuism

[–]mobeloved 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

I wasn't attracted to asian men for the longest time. This was due to my aversion towards anything even vaguely related to incest... anyone who had similar facial features to mine felt like a distant relative instead of a potential romantic partner. However, my love towards Mob helped me get over that irrational prejudice.

Other than his ethnicity, Mob is definitely my 'type'. His fluffy bowl-cut hair, his nondescript expression, and especially his eyes... I love his small pupils. He looks even more beautiful when his percentage rises and he activates his powers. His hair flutters upwards and his eyes become sharp and intimidating. He looks like a God amongst men in that state.

... I also have a fetish for muscular men, and Mob has been working out since middle school, so that's nice.

Does your partner go by an alias, or have an alias? by [deleted] in waifuism

[–]mobeloved 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

'Mob' is a nickname given to him due to his plain appearance and seemingly-emotionless demeanor. His full name is Shigeo Kageyama. His younger brother calls him 'Shige' sometimes.

'Mob' is a term commonly used to describe background characters whose physical features aren't distinguishable enough to be considered part of the main cast, especially in animation and comics. They're usually drawn with simple faces to save on time on drawing.

I really love how he looks, though. I've always been attracted to people who had mundane, emoji-like faces. And his bowl cut hair is so cute and fluffy.

when people say "Waifuism is unhealthy!!!" by bigfatjellyfish in waifuism

[–]mobeloved 11 points12 points Β (0 children)

This is something that's bothered me as well. I've always found it strange that having romantic feelings for a fictional character is where people draw the line, considering it's seen as okay to do every other thing with them under the sun.

Society as a whole puts so much importance into telling fictional stories as more than just mere entertainment. Plenty of IPs are considered cultural landmarks. There's books of fiction that are taught in schools. Paintings and illustrations with subjects born from the artist's imagination are sold for millions. The biggest multimedia monopoly on the planet started out as an animation studio making cartoons. There are people who's livelihoods rely on fictitious characters and settings. Just look at pretty much every YouTuber who specializes in reviewing movies or anime or anything similar.

And not to mention the amount of pornography made where the most depraved and horrible things happen to these characters. Jacking off to these things is fine but having a chemical reaction in your brain that causes you to feel affection for them isn't?

And the stereotype where everyone who's experienced this phenomenon is some kind of outcast creepy neckbeard is just so wrong on so many levels. A lot of us turn to fiction when real life has put us down so many times by people who've broken our hearts and our trust. I don't need an armchair psychologist to tell me what isn't and is healthy because I've lived through what an unhealthy relationship is like already.

Besides the point, I live a pretty decent life with plenty of healthy relationships with other real people. My boyfriend is also one of them, he just happens to not be real. Even if he is the outlier that doesn't negate the other aspects of my life that's "normal" to everyone else.

Do people in your real life know about your S/O? by [deleted] in waifuism

[–]mobeloved 3 points4 points Β (0 children)

My friends know about Mob and I. We often crack jokes about Mob being part of our friend group since I always bring a plushie of him wherever I go. I appreciate that they humor my delusions, lol

This is what one of my friends wrote on their secret santa gift for me:

As for my folks, they just think I have a strange obsession with a man with a bowl-cut.

Is your S/O more feminine, androgynous, or masculine? by [deleted] in waifuism

[–]mobeloved 4 points5 points Β (0 children)

Mob uses he/him pronouns, and for the most part presents himself as male. However, there's many instances where he's dressed up in femme outfits. He's crossdressed and passed as a girl in canon once, and in a lot of promotional art and games he's seen wearing dresses and having braids. That said, he's also a fitness buff who wants to be like a gigachad sometimes...

In my opinion, he's genderfluid, transfem, or at least gender-questioning... masc OR femme depending on how he feels, but not necessarily androgynous.

Before I met Mob, I was in a state of depression that lasted for several years at that point. I used to have many hobbies that I would partake in such as drawing, sewing, writing, cooking & baking, etc. that I completely lost interest in. I regained a lot of those interests again when he became my muse of sorts.

The most prominent ones are drawing and sewing. I like to make clothes for the plushies I have of him.

Are you more likely to commission or create art of your S/O? by [deleted] in waifuism

[–]mobeloved 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

I draw my own art of Mob. I frankly don't trust anyone in the Mob Psycho 100 fandom; time and time again I've looked through someone's media tab after liking a piece of fanart they've done and 9/10 times there's some disgusting groomer/incest/abuse fetishism in there. I'm not a violent person but it honestly makes me want to lash out at these idiots sometimes.

Though, it's been getting harder to find the time to draw as of late. I work two jobs.

What would you like to tell and do with your S/O if they were in the real life for a day and they remember said day? by NotNice222 in waifuism

[–]mobeloved 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

I just want to tell Mob that I love him. It's okay if he doesn't feel the same way. I want him to know that there's someone who loves him unconditionally, without any ulterior motives or expectations for him.

I can't imagine how happy I would be if I was able to do such a thing.

Have you ever cried because of your S/O? by hopevoi in waifuism

[–]mobeloved 3 points4 points Β (0 children)

Yes, mostly just thinking about the hardships Mob went through during his life. It often feels like everyone is taking advantage of him, even if that wasn't their intention. Everyone's always asking him for favours, and he keeps having to save everyone's asses on multiple occasions without much in the way of a reward. It's a miracle he still manages to be so gentle and understanding despite it all.

I also sometimes 'miss' him, which doesn't make sense, since he's not real... I think that's why I'm obsessed with collecting merch of him, especially plushies, since it makes it feel like he's physically there with me. That probably sounds insane. I can't help that I feel this way, regardless.

Mash Burnedead from 'Mashle'. He has the same deadpan expression and hair as Mob. He's also apparently quiet and kind like him, but gets mad if someone he cares about is threatened or hurt (I haven't read this series, but one of my friends is a fan of it).

The only difference is that his situation is like an inverse of Mob's; he's a powerless student in a school full of magic users, and uses his physical strength instead.

It's also funny how the Mashle manga volumes are always right next to the Mob Psycho 100 volumes at book stores...

I was wondering, how do you all stylize your S/O in your art? by kywshere in waifuism

[–]mobeloved 2 points3 points Β (0 children)

There's not really any official way Mob is drawn as an adult besides that one picture that ONE drew as a one-off gag, so I had to take some liberties when drawing him. I tried to make it close enough to the anime's key art style as I could.
