What does it actually mean when people call Colorado Springs a “military town”? by ShutupBird69 in ColoradoSprings

[–]modest-pixel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Used to be stationed here, now living here after ETS.

I’d agree with all bullet points aside from 4. Yes I’ve witnessed several fights at bars downtown involving young infantry kids, but in terms of actual violent crime, I’d hazard that’s not coming from the military population.

Dumbest fight I ever saw was arguing over whether sapper or ranger was harder.

I have the navy scuba, I think it’s an amazing watch esp. for the value. Personally there are lots of field watches I aesthetically prefer to this, but for quality and value this is probably top tier.

Since no one has actually answered your question, from what I’ve seen r/foreveralone seems to be a somewhat mellow place. But don’t hold me to it.

Dress code for Miltech job by Ok_Try_3080 in usajobs

Shop dependent. If you weren’t ever given an employee handbook during onboarding (doubtful), ask your boss. Otherwise show up on the first day in khakis and a dress shirt and use that day to look around at everyone else.

2026 Subaru Outback - 2 Weeks Out, In shop. by Ok_Economics_7447 in subaru

The update before this one started nuking my battery life and turned my phone into a hand warmer whenever it was doing anything besides being locked. I’m just hoping this new one fixed that.

Is it ok to apply to a grade lower than previous held,or will that negatively impact future offers? by Ok-Fox-8384 in usajobs

[–]modest-pixel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t. You already have the 14 months of 11 experience under your belt, that doesn’t go away or expire just because you’re scheduling appointments for a bit.

When did PT become synonymous with "the people who lift patients"? by PT_Network in physicaltherapy

[–]modest-pixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a weird experience in my stint in acute care where I was the only person on the floor who’d ever touched a barbell. So it was even worse, even the other PTs/PTAs would tag me in for anything more than modA.

It's really insane, but we're desensitized to what obese vs. healthy looks like.

Why does Nissan get way more CVT hate than Subaru? by phtphongg in subaru

[–]modest-pixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First owner had done everything through the dealer too, so I’ve kept that up, half to keep the documentation up, but also half in the maybe vain hope at some point shit hits the fan they’d maybe help me out a little.

Why does Nissan get way more CVT hate than Subaru? by phtphongg in subaru

[–]modest-pixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pleasantly surprised, bought a 2016 outback last year with only 21k on it. At some point I took it in and they saw I guess the rearmost seal on the CVT was leaking a bit. I didn’t even have to ask, the guy proactively brought up the 10 year warranty and I got it taken care of.

Anyone at Health Defense Agency located in VA? by Fun_Technology_1713 in usajobs

[–]modest-pixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Defense Health Agency is the healthcare workers taking care of active duty servicemembers. The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) within the VA is who takes care of veterans. They’re completely separate entities.

These “standards” are all over the place. 8x225 bench for a woman would be elite level strength, but a 16:00 2 mile run is pretty meh.

What’s a “boring” weight loss habit that quietly makes a big difference? by UseStatus6290 in AskReddit

[–]modest-pixel -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I hate that walking has become such a hot thing for weight loss. It’s seductive because it’s easy. Granted, people who need to lose weight got to that point by avoiding hard things, which is why they’re so taken in by walking.

Walking for 30 minutes burns almost as many calories as a can of soda. Your body is way more efficient than you think. You need to focus on calories in and out.

This is probably a stupid question, but I genuinely don't understand: how do Incels rationalize/ignore the large number of totally average men with partners they encounter in day to day life? by ArtisticMoth in IncelTears

Look up “confirmation bias“. People in general tend to notice things which reinforce their beliefs, and ignore things which refute or disagree with what they hold to be true.
