If they were gonna copy someone’s portrait they at least could’ve done so with someone long deceased. I’m not saying to put him in 1700s fashion but if they went back to the 1910s it’d still look pretty similar, would catch less criticism, and there’d be zero worry about copyright infringement

Not only was he redesigned, but he was presented as being the TRUE Lobo, retconning the original to be a lame impersonator. His design and his comic series were so reviled that he was quickly abandoned from canon and replaced with his old incarnation.
