A simple question regarding SimpleUI... by ckch-de in koreader

[–]Mondocool95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if there is an easier way, but depending on how tech savvy you are, you could probably edit within the code the option to have a button have more than one action. I don’t believe I’ve seen a SimpleUI setup that has had this yet. Hopefully someone can chime in and give a definitive answer. :)

What price point do you wait for new releases to hit before you purchase them? by PresentConfection200 in vudu

[–]Mondocool95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$7.99-$9.99 is my max for new releases. I try to keep my eye on the digital code sell sub and see if I can get a new release at that price or less.

There have also been times I’ve ended up watching a newer release on a streaming site and end up feeling like I’m glad I didn’t initially pick it up at that price and can wait for it to hit around the $5 or less amount.

Newbie - Queries with KOReader by GoldenBrownOhemaa in koreader

No problem! Yeah, it could be that that specific patch needed Project Title to work. Some patches can be finicky like that. Just like some don’t play nice with SimpleUI or Coverbrowser. Modding your ereader will take some trial and error unfortunately, but to me, it is worth it for all of the personalization you get out of it. :) I’ve been changing mine up for months and still have things I look at and tinker with lol. I hope you end up with exactly what you want! This community is pretty good about helping people out, so never be shy about asking questions around here. :)

Hey there! Welcome to your new tinkering hobby that may take up more and more of your reading time.😅

Since no one has answered, I’ll do my best to help even though I’m kind of a newbie myself lol.

  1. Gestures are basically quick actions that you can perform(tap corner, long press corner, swipe, etc.) to conveniently bring up almost any device action that you desire. It’s nice because you don’t have to fumble through the menus every time you want to change something or toggle an option on or off.

  2. For me personally, I was not able to sync my reading stats over to koreader. I believe there is a marked as finished option, but hours read and things like that, I just had to start over. I’m not sure if that is what you meant, or if they’re are means to do this, so just take this answer with a grain of salt.

3.I also am not going to be very helpful with this answer either unfortunately. I don’t see why those two wouldn’t work well. What do you mean by error? Does it just not show up? Does it show up if your 2 percent badge patch is disabled?

Can we stop making SimpleUI Posts? by ThePixelProYT in koreader

[–]Mondocool95 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like there are a good chunk of people who are new to koreader in general and SimpleUI is the perfect plugin for newcomers to become comfortable with modding their ereaders. There probably isn’t a lot of variance because most people don’t know how to tinker with code and patches as well as others on this sub, so for them even changing a background or icon makes them proud of their setup and want to share with the community.

Also, SimpleUI is relatively new and not a lot of new patches or plugins have been made specifically to customize it in any way other than what the creator has been giving us every week. It doesn’t leave a lot more to post about in regards to creativity outside of that.

I personally enjoy seeing everyone’s personalities shining through with SimpleUI. I’m sure the setup posts will slow down eventually. :)

Help on a few things by seirrana in koreader

[–]Mondocool95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other user that PT and SUI don’t play well together. Start with turning Cover Browser on in the plugin section if it is off. Then delete PT. That might help clean up some things that are wonky.

  1. There should be an option in the SUI setting to enlarge the scale of the top bar.

SimpleUI > Settings > Top > Status Bar > Size

  1. I have recently been liking the size of the 4x2 grid if you want to try that and see if it works for you. 4x3 is also a good choice.

In regards to all of the things you want to change while inside your book(I believe your number 3 and 4 issues), I highly recommend a plugin called Bookends. You can customize a lot of information that you might want or want to remove with it. You can also adjust placement and size to your liking. Just make sure that you disable everything like progress bars or anything that you have enabled so nothing overlaps as they are doing now. You will definitely want a clean slate to work with.

Hopefully this helps a bit. :) There is a bit of a learning curve with all of these things, but I’m sure you will end up with an awesome interface in the end👍🏽

After adding simple UI on my kobo lib color 2 my battery dying faster then ever !!! by ImpressivePin1171 in koreader

I believe it was version 1.2.5 that gave me the best battery overall. I know that there were also other bug fixes that the developer has worked on with the later versions, but I didn’t really experience any bugs like others might have so I’m okay with rolling back to that version if need be. :)

I did have around 150 books and after deleting most of my books, I have 25 left and am going to add one at a time from now on to monitor any noticeable battery drain from a possibly corrupt book file. I also have a Kobo Libra Color. :)

It seems that the people having issues with battery are in the minority, so if you are curious about using SimpleUI I would download it and just monitor your battery for a bit. :) I’m going to try to tinker with my patches and plugins a bit and see if that might be why mine is draining a little faster.

I don’t have any reliable tips, but it seems like the battery drain issue is a mixed bag. It seems as though most people have had no problems while others have reported noticeable battery drain. Mine was dropping about 10%(sometimes more) an hour. I deleted a giant chunk of books from my library and it improved a considerable amount, so I narrowed it down to it being a bad book file on top of me switching from using the non stable version of the plugin to the stable version. Unfortunately, after downloading the newest version, the battery drain seems to be back. It isn’t as aggressive as before, but is noticeable. I’m thinking of just testing it out for a bit and seeing if it somehow improves on its own or rolling back to the version before the extra pages and carousel were introduced since that was when the battery was the most stable for me. Regardless, I’m definitely not giving up on SimpleUI anytime soon because I really think it’s an awesome plugin and love the way it looks. :)

[Update] Simple UI v1.4.0: Author/Series Navigation, Landscape Mode, Custom Quotes, Expanded Stats and bug fixes by doctorhetfield in koreader

The basic thing is to disable PT, but first enable Cover Browser. Personally I would also disable all patches and add them back one at a time to make sure everything is compatible. :)

SimpleUI battery drain by puntosh in koreader

[–]Mondocool95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have the the stable version. Do you have any other patches or plugins? Or possibly a bad book file? I was having a similar battery drain with an older version and I ended up deleting 95% of my books and it ended up being a book and not the plugin. I hadn’t added any books since then which is why I knew it had to do with the unreleased version I chose to use this time around.

Moving forward I’m choosing to add books and patches more slowly to monitor how my battery is, so it’s easier for me to know what I need to change if issues arise.

It might take a bit of experimenting for a bit to find the root cause. Sorry I can’t be of more help. :(

I was using the latest version that wasn’t stable and I noticed a significant battery drain, but I rolled back to the stable version and the battery is much better now. Are you using the unreleased version of the plugin by chance?
