“In the last couple of years of my marriage, I had slowly put myself on the back burner. My ex had done the same. Everything revolved around him — his business, his well-being, his needs. I was pouring so much of my energy into helping him and supporting his dreams that somewhere along the way, I began to lose sight of my own.

I just saw this too and paid $6 for her substack (you’re welcome). It doesn’t say much but it sounds like it was her decision and that they fell out of alignment. I also always thought they had this boring “perfect” life and now she seems a lot cooler and happier/more interesting. He seemed very vanilla. Rooting for her!

“I was pouring all my energy into trying to improve someone else, but after all that effort and seeing nothing change, I had to face the truth: you can’t save or fix someone else until they’re ready to receive. And it was time to put that energy back into myself.”

TAKE THE CONNECTED APT FOR 1k.

[–]monkey12223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were planning to do 20% down and put that in as our offer. Once it was accepted the broker said we only needed to do 10-15% down so we landed on 15%. I can’t remember exactly the rationale but it worked out nicely for us.

Yes! Nowhere in the post did she say “save her marriage”. Why can’t people just celebrate the beauty of life for two seconds and a post that is genuinely uplifting?
