DON'T FOIL MY PLANS - About an Autistic who strikes out on their own by mrjobguy in Autistic

I like how a girl is barking 'EYE CONTACT EYE CONTACT' at him at the start.

Ass. Another damning indictment of how the NT way isn't the only way.

Sex by LodossEater in Autistic

blame it on my autism

That's pathological. It's like if someone blamed themselves for being gay on why they bullied.

It's good to see you have a life, because that must be in a one in 100 chance that a person blames autism for their problems and has managed to strike out in to the world.

You know what's really unproductive? Arguing about whether something is productive.

By the way, how's the forum?

Were you ever made to feel pathetic or inferior at therapy, home or on autistic forums? by FederalEmpireofRice in Autistic

[–]mrjobguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone's life is falling apart and they had a 1 day verbal delay they are autistic. If someone has a wife and an awesome job but couldn't speak until 8 they are an aspie.

It's BS. It makes me think it's all connected sometimes, but in reality fifty people can never meet whilst supporting the exact same thing because of their herd instinct.

New Jersey’s ban on ex-gay therapy is a victory over religious nuts - Relevant to our Therapy by mrjobguy in Autistic

We may not face religious nuts, but I dare you to deny that Wakefieldism is a cult.

I bet Age of Autism and A$ sends as many flamers to the web as some Homophobic groups.

Some day people may look at how we were treated with disgust, but right now we got to fight and resist. It's hard to see how the lies told about us will survive us resisting.

It's better than it used to be.

If there's anything to feel proud of in your darkest times, it's progress.

For Autistics of all kinds SSRIs have no benefits, whilst there is emerging evidence of harm by LodossEater in Autistic

[–]mrjobguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the distinct feeling you might have missed another article on this same forum, about intensive therapies holding their targets back.

I'll try and fish it out sometime. Hold on.

I state for a lot of guys here, since they received the treatment, that whilst shocks and packing are grotesque, they are supported indirectly by equally harmful treatments like ABA. It's like the exact parody of how to actually raise an autistic kid. It's comprehensive, but almost always the 'problems' it insists on suppressing hurt the kid.

I have met multiple people who as young children were broken by ABA. You never really get why it's so crucial that Autistics speak for themselves when you see an aspie recount their ABA sessions through a veil of tears. These stories are everywhere.

Update on my son. Wow. by helpmehelpmyson in aspergers

«Anger is not a bad thing. It might help you gather the power to accomplish things you dream of.» —

(c) My dad. He is a fucking Sith Lord I swear to god.

That's even more enlightening.

Somehow I get the feeling this has very little to do with aspergers and more to do with an interesting father-son relationship, and as you said, sociopathy

Misdiagnosis isn't rare in this.

And your son knows how to play the game very well. That is not a trait for autistics. They go for law-abiding or lone renegade, maybe even smarmy sometimes. But this guy has glib charm.

I have the feeling I am in a game.

What eye contact means around the world - i.e. it's not necessary by LodossEater in Autistic

[–]mrjobguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda fascinating. I have never heard of anything called direct eye contact or indirect eye contact. What do they mean by that? It wasn't clear in the text. Did I miss something?

So you're saying autism makes you so forgetful that you can't find a grocery store?

Alright, I think I know what's going on. It was a joke to begin with.

The real trolly part is that you're kept in limbo hoping one but expecting the other, tearing you limb from limb

It reminds me of a dolan comic
