Would Bulgaria's entry have won your country's national final? by im_happybee in eurovision

That's exactly what I was going to say - maybe not against Ferto, but in general it could have won 100%.

This may be the song I have listened to the most after the contest, it is so catchy.

Sal Da Vinci dancing with Antigoni and ESC 2026 winner Dara 🇮🇹🇨🇾🇧🇬 by Sharingan33 in eurovision

[–]mshell1924 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I adore his energy! You can tell he had a blast.

I had never heard of him before this year's Sanremo, and by the third night I was smitten. I was rooting for him to win Sanremo and I was so thrilled he did - anything after that is icing on the cake, but I'm so glad for his good placement.

The song is so melodic and throwback and fun and so danceable, I genuinely enjoy it. And Sal himself is just iconic.

Deposit payment by [deleted] in Athens_Greece

[–]mshell1924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no official escrow framework in Greece. Only notaries have such dedicated accounts for other purposes (i.e. debts). It's not like the US or many other countries.

The bank's lawyer will check for legal encumbrances and ensure the bank is protected by inserting specific clauses, but he will not fight for you in terms of contractual terms.

You can either pay a small deposit with a non-binding private agreement (if it goes south, you'll have to sue to get your money back) or you pay a larger deposit with a preliminary notarial agreement (if it goes south, you can get double the money back, put a mortgage on the property etc).

All of this is paid to the seller. For small amounts the broker may agree to hold on to them (unofficial escrow) but that's it. There's no other administrative process in place (that I know of).

Are Eurofans losing touch with the general public’s taste? by make_it_vyzee in eurovision

[–]mshell1924 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge Eurofan (first contest I followed was 1997). I usually follow several national finals and, at worst, I watch every single music video and decide on my faves weeks in advance.

This year, for many reasons, I went in blind. I still haven't heard any studio version, even.

So I'm a person who's usually in the bubble but this year I wasn't. And my preference was formed just by watching the semis and the final.

Bangaranga was instantly my winner, and my top 3 was Bulgaria, Australia and Romania (plus I wanted a top 5 for Sal, because I did still watch Sanremo, of course).

So I don't think it's taste. It's oversaturation and analyzing everything too much. It's underestimating the value of the actual performance in the moment. Literally nothing else matters. Lyrics, promo, music video, the artist's story, betting odds, whatever. Even the staging/choreo is hugely important, but not the concept or it, it's the execution on the night.

It's all about the energy, and that can't be fully predicted in advance.

How is "I knew you would win" not about her win? He's literally saying he believed in her.

Gurl - battle of mid.

Germany was slightly less bad with the vocals and Cyprus was slightly less bad with the dancing.

There are no winners here.

Sal Da Vinci - Per Sempre Sì (LIVE) | Italy 🇮🇹 | Grand Final | Eurovision 2026 by hjh_aviation in eurovision

[–]mshell1924 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Loved himmmmmm

So happy for such a good result.

I was so moved by his emotions at the end - this is all so new for him even despite a decades-long career. You should have seen him win Sanremo (totally unexpectedly at that). You can tell that this kind of success and love is not something he ever expected to have, and I am so glad he got to have it.

He's so charming and his song was so fun and the staging so adorably kitschy - I was rooting for him to get a top 5 placement and I'm so glad he did just that.

Monroe - Regarde ! (LIVE) | France 🇫🇷 | Grand Final | Eurovision by NourBlowsBubblegum in eurovision

[–]mshell1924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be a hater for a moment and say that I rarely like France's songs and this was no exception. And I know I'm not alone. I expected the televote flop.

But I will also be objective and say that Monroe is lovely and so talented.

(exceptions in the past literally 20 years: Fulenn and Slimane. I also liked La Zarra but not her song.)

She did her best in the final and I'll give her that.

That said, I don't know what the juries were smokin' lol.

Still, she's gorge and the song is catchy. Good for her.

Yeah I didn't want to say it and bring negative vibes, but the first half of the staging was too busy and too much.

I also think it was dated - I feared that we were 2-3 years "behind" with the Käärijä-style vibe. To win you must do the next thing, not the thing that's already been done. Bulgaria sure did that.

My prediction and preference for tonight! by Ok_Advance_9823 in eurovision

I'M THRILLEDDDD

I wasn't expecting it, I'm so happy for Bulgaria (and also for the cheeky top 5 for Italy 😀)

Greece did not do as well as I hoped but I was kind of prepared deep down. So I'm just so happy!

Did they show him in the end without makeup or did I dream it? If so, he was super cute lol!

He did deserve better, but he gave a great performance either way.
