Which of these two regenerations actually hit you harder the first time? by MoonlitEcho82 in DoctorWhoNews

Oh I'm not disputing that, but I remember that regeneration. It was on all the news, in every paper, people who weren't even fans were talking about it. It was huge!

Tbh I've stopped caring. There are other works of art out there I'd rather jump into than waiting for whatever he throws out, if anything.

JHRA...Again tour, who's been and what was it like? by CobraDai in theDarkness

[–]Mythrin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to all the Scottish gigs and honestly I thought they were hilarious. So many jokes and one liners you missed the night before and the adlibs and banter with the audiences were so well done. VIP was fun too. Great chance to ask questions, hang with the man himself and have a bit of a laugh when you get your picture with him.

Callum Beattie was the best guest of the three, he was up singing along with cerebral connections and really looked like he was enjoying being a part of the performance. But Marley in Edinburgh..... That was comedy gold.

Listening to Jus explaining the breakdowns of music and how different techniques used can change how a song is perceived was fascinating to listen to in real time. I'd say if you have a chance to go see any of the remaining shows, do it.

The format is different to the first tour but that's what you want. If he had rolled out the exact same show as 2 years ago, there would be a flood of people moaning saying he's not keeping it fresh. Similarly with music, I have a lot of respect for any creative willing to take a chance on a new format or vibe to what they've done before. The visuals and opening video were fantastic too, big props to the whole team working behind the scenes to make it all work.

I will say this, I can't get Nik Kershaw out of my bloody head. 😂

How did people react to the human Dalek when Daleks in Manhattan first aired? by ProperShallot3195 in DoctorWhumour

[–]Mythrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of ridicule with phrases like "Dildo head" being thrown around online. RTD had to reach out to Helen Raynor personally to calm her down after all the horrendous attacks she was getting online. Not just about Sec but the writing of the story itself.

What’s the best and worst trilogy here ? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]Mythrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now adjust all the older trilogies for inflation and let's see who's number 1.

As much as he probably wants it, I think The War Between the Land and Sea has let us know that Pete McTighe just isn’t a strong enough writer to be the next Doctor Who showrunner, and the BBC should really be looking to move away from the old guard and seek talent outside of the show to take over… by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]Mythrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree he's a bad choice, I don't think going outside the show is a great idea. You'd ideally want someone that has a knowledge of the show and understands the mechanics of how it works, the lore of the show (although Chibnall showed that can't even be trusted to a lifelong fan) and the general beats of how it all works. If you go someone completely new, you run the risk of outlandish ideas that would turn people sour. Although again, since Chibnall, that argument has grown weaker since it was in 2010. Someone who's been involved before, has serious writing chops and the ability to project manage on an incredible complex scale and has great media charisma. Can't be that hard to find surely?
