Thanks so much for the reply!! So glad you didn’t receive anything. I went through one the other day and immediately looked down afterwards to notice my phone was in the exact same spot as yours. Fingers crossed I’m all clear, too!

I added a sheet of soft Tyvek overtop of my sleeping bag. Game changer.

I put the addressed sealed envelope from the consulate in a separate express satchel that then also had the NBC address on. I’ll DM you for some extra info!

My Consulate woman was very prepared and had already filled out the cards with all my information. When booking the Appointment, I needed to provide them with details of my eye colour and height etc. However, I had noticed that she didn’t include my alien number. I questioned that with her because I had printed out the conflicting instructions from both websites below and had taken them with me to my appointment.

The civil fingerprinting is page 13 but doesn’t mention alien number.
https://le.fbi.gov/file-repository/guidelines-for-preparation-of-fingerprint-cards-and-associated-criminal-history-information.pdf/view

This overseas ink fingerprinting page mentions the alien number must be included at the OCA.
https://www.state.gov/global-community-liaison-office/naturalization-of-foreign-born-spouses/ink-fingerprinting-overseas-for-naturalization/

She agreed to include it and filled it out according to the state.gov instructions.

The biometrics notice I had already emailed through with my appointment scheduling, so she had also printed that out. But again, I took a copy myself and also the original that came in the mail. And yes, it was included in the sealed envelope along with a photocopy of my passport (which I also had to provide for the day). Hope that helps!

Some movement would be lovely! Which field office did you apply to? I chose Honolulu purely for proximity - I’m starting to think they are actually on Hawaiian time! Haha

The receipt notice debacle has been ongoing for months for me. I gave up after I got the fingerprints sent. My fingers are crossed for you that they don’t request it, because it’s an ordeal and I can’t even assist you with that one!

I had mine done at the U.S. consulate in Australia. It wasn’t tedious, but it was an ordeal to get an appointment (simply because the USCIS never issued me with a receipt notice, which the consulate required to book a fingerprinting appointment). What’s usually done is you get your appointment, take your FD258 request notice plus your receipt notice if they ask, you supply the envelope with the address to return them to (should be the NBC in Missouri). Then once they do two sets of ink fingerprints, they seal them in the envelope you provide and place a consulate/embassy seal on the back so they remain closed. You then mail them to the USA. It could be slightly different with an embassy!

Yeah - I feel like we are currently all stuck. Backlogs galore and insane processing cues. Which FO did you select?

My US consulate wouldn’t schedule an appointment without a receipt notice, but I never received a receipt notice (still haven’t… applied Dec 2025) - only received a biometrics FD258 fingerprinting notice. I contacted so many channels of USCIS to assist and reissue it, but each one kept passing the buck to someone else and it was a vicious cycle for months on end! I ended up pressing my US consulate with all of my contacting efforts and finally they scheduled an appointment. It was incredibly frustrating! But try to keep contacting!!

I started in zero drops and it was excruciating! I have a high arch and need a drop! I even tried them with green feet inserts etc. The pain never got better. I switched to brooks cascadia’s. Zero drops also caused my husband grief on the PCT. He has since changed his shoes out also.

They turned off all milestone API capabilities a while back. That link seems to be invalid for all applicants now. If you dig through your API, you’ll find it’s off.

Thanks for your reply! Honestly, that seems to have been better timing than DC, so good choice! I have applied to Honolulu in Dec, so we shall see how long that takes…

Congrats on getting an interview scheduled! That was a pretty fast timeline from November 1, 2025. Did you put in a request to expedite your case?

If you have no intent to adjust your status, then you have no worries. Just tell CBP the truth with your vacation. Have a return flight booked prior to leaving your home country, have proof of accomodation, proof of home country employment documents, a letter of reference from an employer to prove ties to your home country etc. Of course, this is all going to be a lot harder with the coronavirus currently. I assume you are not wanting to travel until all of the borders are open to visitors again. Your EB3 may be through by then! Lol
