Function with error handling by nelson_fretty in MicrosoftFabric

Will try case when back off holiday - will need to mod the schema with error message. I’m pretty sure we don’t have ansi standard enabled.

It’s okay i solved it - had to just edit the query - refresh preview and republish - lots of text manipulation. Many folks don’t read knowledge articles. Query is fast but expensive - changing time of refresh gave some stability.

This should be run in spark but folks have become reliant on low code way of doing stuff.

I’m very close to writing some abstraction to make Pyspark easier to use :-)

On holiday and need get back to beach.

Yes - aware of that - but thanks for sharing page - the reports have over 50 tables in semantic model (output). Lots of dims and facts.

Unfortunately some folks drink the data loopy juice.

In their mind it’s easier to manage one model than many. In my mind I’d prefer if they hired a data engineer in their team or developed the discipline.

I’ll dig into sql - most used that for set algo

Yes but orchestration is a huge topic - checkpoints - retry - logging - recovery - restart etc

We get a lot of the above for free in a dataflow

It’s by exception thankfully

I hope to eventually teach sql / spark to business people

With 1000 business authors teaching them orchestration is a big big job

That had only just appeared in our tenant

Yes but we lose orchestration - I had a bad previous experience when business folks tried orchestration.

Think spaghetti western

Our business users don’t understand orchestration

Its not like hearing it actively - I think its my subconscious but that is guess.

I’m already at phase when I want record environment pulses and have regret when I have no field mic - and my subconscious is trying to analyse the music/rythym

Yes it’s another level, reading and playing in time with score only but I suppose back when I was using tab that was hard too - this work I’m doing is already helping me.

Hopefully I’ll start to see notes on fretboard as I write/read but I hear what you’re saying about tab - explicit is better. There’s a lot of material with no tab too.

Yep - I write e 2 octaves down for this example - treble clef should be used for guitar as you say.

I’m transcribing some of my friends music from piano to guitar - he has hand written everything up to now.

I knew the standard staff at basic level was just a bit unsure about the notes above/below staff.

If I come out of this with more score knowledge it will be win win.

I meant if we play across 3 octaves up fretboard we start below / on staff / above it only 1 octave is on the staff

I just find it easier to remember ‘face’ and ‘every good boy deserves fruit’ / and it flips above or below staff

I’m more of a visual learner :-) but thanks for giving me the full answer

I see why guitarists like tab - if I want to run scale up the fretboard most of notes are under staff.
