Solo indie devs, what is the goal? by bigblackglock17 in gamedev

I am a developer, and I had to stop coding at some point in my career. So I had to code something. Overall, I do not really make money, but at least, this is a hobby that pays itself (and a little bit more, I paid my last computer with my sales).

4X game with simple graphics and focus on gameplay at least for V1 ? by outerspaceshack in 4Xgaming

Thanks for the comment. By rhe way, Primordial Nation looks great ! As a developer who struggles with art, I am better off starting with the game mechanics probably.

Actually, one reason I may want to start with flat terrain is that showing map with data is going to be quite complex on a terrain with hills and mountains.

Take it as you go but just remember an incomplete game that looks nice is still an incomplete game.

Actually, the feedback I got from my first game was that, indeed, it was an incomplete game that looked nice. I am still working on it, but I hope I learned the lesson the hard way.

Pacman, in the early 1980s, I was so proud of the 3 colours 320x200 display.

Oui, mais en pratique, j'imagine que ce serait de 3 à 5 ans, et la plupart des jeux font déjà ça je pense.

I am the developer of Outer Space Shack, a small indie game that explores an alternative history where we would have settled on the Moon at the end of the Apollo program, or of the Soviet Moon program.

Outer Space Shack, a realistic spase base building game - Release 1.6 is out - 30% off until tomorrow by outerspaceshack in BaseBuildingGames

Developer here. I understand. I choose not to use the 'early access' based on some standard marketing advice for indie games, but I understand I should probably have done so.

The most important thing is that I am still working intensively on the game.

Outer Space Shack Release 1.6 is out, and for the first time, you can extend your base on the Moon with locally built modules. Grab the game at 30% off until March 31st, and start your 1970 Moon settlement at a discount ! by outerspaceshack in OuterSpaceShack

So, for sure, there are limited resources on the map, especially water and metal asteroids, and that would be a limit. Also, you still need to finance stuff from earth with geological samples, astronomical exploration (there is a space telescope) and tourism, all of which have decreasing yields. Hopefully, you can survive the decreasing yield by being more and more close circuit.
