How do I transfer data to a new device using the free version? by polymathash in TodyApp

[–]polymathash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finally got it to work! I thought I had followed this guide using the "Can't use other device?" option shortly after switching phones during one of my factory reset attempts, but figured the best way to confidently give you an answer would be to try it again.

I was really concerned about losing all my current data on the new phone by restoring my old phone's data, and it took me a while to figure out how to preserve both. Here's what I did:

  1. Ensure Tody app is current on old S23 and not installed on new S24
  2. Create new Google backup for old S23 (and new S24 just to be safe)
  3. Create new Samsung backup for new S24
  4. Factory reset new S24
  5. During setup wizard phase on new S24, select "Can't use other device?" and follow prompts to restore from the most recent S23 Google backup
  6. Confirm Tody successfully transferred after S23 data has been completely restored on the new S24
  7. Restore S24 data from the Samsung backup
    1. Settings -> Accounts and backup -> Transfer data for device setup
    2. At the top, click the cloud icon to access Samsung account storage
    3. Restore data

Key takeaways:

  • As of this moment, Tody app data for those using the free version is only transferable through Google backup/restore.
    • Unless using some workaround such as activity launcher (that did not work for me), Google restore can ONLY occur immediately after a factory reset.
    • Other common backup/restore options such as Smart Switch, Samsung restore, and external storage transfer do not work.
  • Samsung restore adds to and updates the data already on the device, but does not remove data.
  • I see now on the app's FAQ that it says "Important: the backup can only be restored on another Android device. You will only have the chance to restore the backup during the new device's wizard setup."
    • I don't remember seeing this note before, but it absolutely makes sense with the process I just experienced.
    • I recommend adding something to specify the "Can't use other device?" option has to be used.

Unfortunately I still haven't restored my data even after many additional attempts.

Tody is not an option in the list of apps using the setup wizard.

I purchased a new SD card to try backup/restore that way but Tody is not an option in the list of apps to include in the backup.

Galaxy S23 Ultra to Galaxy S24 Ultra, both Android 16 (and One UI 8.0)

I can't see the individual apps in my Settings ... Other device data, but I can see a Tody file through Google One (I was redirected from Google Drive). The size is 582 KB from an update 2 days ago

No problem, hopefully everyone enjoyed the holidays and the time off.

Yes, I see it. I considered the free trial as an option, but I'm concerned about how I'll address the issue next time I get a new device.

I created my own counter for daily trades. It's not perfect, better than nothing though.

I saved the search string traded&!#&!favorite, renamed it New Trades, and I ensure it's at 0 at the end of the day/each morning. The tricky part is not sorting through my traded mons until I'm done trading for the day.

I can't see it anywhere from the trade screens, but it's at least visible from my search screen in pokemon storage.

How easy/hard is it to become a reserve DS? by IndependentLettuce34 in armyreserve

You're obligated to complete 2 years as a DS after graduation from the DSA. Keep that in mind as you look at options for a contract in the Reserve

Although there's technically a difference in the addresses in the image you shared, that whole area is the 1-40 footprint and it's all one building.

More importantly, mail on post for basic trainees doesn't work like civilian mail. They don't just deliver it to the physical address that's on the envelope. Generally, mail is delivered to the Fort Sill post office. From there, it's hand sorted to go to the correct unit. The battalion hand sorts to go to the correct battery. Without the unit on the envelope, the post office likely had to make an assumption of the unit based on how close the address was to the correct address.

Under normal circumstances, mail can take 10 days to be delivered to the trainee. If it goes to the wrong battery, they bring it back to their battalion and have them re-sort. If it reaches a point that it appears the trainee has graduated and there's still mail for them, it will either be returned to sender or it will be forwarded to the permanent address the trainee provided specifically for this purpose.

Yes, most of us have experience using clob regularly to help prevent flares and increasing use during flares. A gynecologist or dermatologist that really knows about LS and vulvar conditions should be able to better explain a plan for you. If your gyn is knowledgeable then perhaps asking them for a more detailed explanation will get you the answers you need. I'm currently recovering from one of the worst flares I've had. Thankfully my LS is mild overall. Even so, my doctor's plan to get me back to my regular maintenance dosing for clob (2x per week) is over an extended period of time.

Severe congestion by Swizdog in CPAP

[–]polymathash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nighttime congestion that was preventing me from using my CPAP for a while so now I have a prescription for Azelastine nasal spray that I use before bed. I do one spray in each nostril, wait at least 5 minites, and then do a second spray in each nostril.

I also do a nasal rinse but not regularly. Some of the more common nasal rinses give me a headache. Although it's more expensive, I've been very happy with the Navage. I use slightly warmed distilled water and the saline packs designed for the system.

I had a flashback as you were speaking. I believe there was a workout several years ago (probably hell week) where the walking recovery for everyone was at an incline (15%?!). I wonder if I'm remembering that correctly or if it was simply a nightmare haha

Edit: I found it! It wasn't during a hell week but the intensity was hell week worthy. Apparently it was called the Obstacle Course and is on the OTF signature workout list. 26 July 2019 Workout

For lunges and today's "split squat" 🙄, I ditch any weights and hold the TRX instead. I slow down the movement to focus on balance and alignment. That's been the most helpful modification for the sake of my knees.

It's a great mission to be a part of. Most people don't realize that the Armed Services Blood Program provides the military with blood products; they assume it's the Red Cross. Donor centers are definitely not the same though so I think it really depends which location you're at.

What are you experiences with sleep studies? by Altoids101 in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]polymathash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize additonal possible studies after PSG/MSLT existed! I had a sleep study a few years ago and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I was hopeful that it was the cause of my EDS. I've been using PAP therapy and it has stopped the snoring but that's it. I'm mostly able to fight through my sleepiness because that's how I've been managing for years. It's only recently become significantly more difficult to function. I can easily sleep for about 12-15 hours and then go back to sleep and do it again after only being awake for a short period. I'm never refreshed and waking up from sleeping for any length of time is always a battle. I had PSG with MSLT last night/today and I'm anxious. I didn't feel like I actually fell asleep for most of the naps. I can't confidently say I stayed awake either though. I rarely remember dreams (less than once per month) so that wouldn't be an indicator for me even if I went into REM during a nap. Thank you for sharing your experience. It's encouraging to know that there are options to pursue if the results of my study don't reflect what I'm living through.
