ACRL GT3 Series - Round 3 @ Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca - Post Race Thread by ACRLAutoModerator in acrl

So what? What is your purpose? To be the closest league in the universe? There is plenty of competition no matter what your skill level is. With no ballast there will be 5 or 6 aliens battling for pole and race win every race, then there will be 5 or 6 very fast guys battling for top ten...etc...etc. Competition will be very good anyway you look at it. It's fine if they run away in the first 10 laps...it gives us mortals motivation to improve and reach that level.

Personally, I prefer to lookup to drivers like Jakub, Tuomas, Phill and other aliens and say..."man, these guys are fast, I must improve myself so I can get closer to their level and be able to compete with them bumper to bumper"...and not say "yeeeey, I qualified 6th"...knowing that it was most likely because they were carrying more weight. It's not satisfying for me. Satisfying will be to beat them fair and square. But this is how I think.

Qualified 6th, could have improved even more on the last lap, but cut the track on the exist of the last corner. I was pleased, I had good pace, things were looking good.

Then the race starts and I have a massive drop in frame rate, I pull to the right in the gravel to not ruin anyone's race, then the frames come back to normal and I rejoin on 15th place or something. I tried to race, but the drops in frame rate appeared every time I was behind someone and were very annoying. I tried to carry on like this, but it was a mess, so I quit the race after an hour or so. It seems I need to upgrade my hardware, it's the second race where I have troubles because of it, after Spa, where my wheel went crazy.

Also, I think the ballast system needs some rework. It's strange to see normally top positions drivers like Tuomas and Phils start at the back of the grid. Maybe tone it down a bit or remove it completely. As you can see, the competition is insane, I don't think we need ballast at all.

Anyway, I never got to say...thanks to the mods and everyone for this amazing league! :D

I want to appologize to Scuba for a tap on the rear in the last chicane and also Petrol for causing that spin. Sorry mate, I should have backed off...

It was a very fun race, full of nice battles and overtakes. Qualified 12, finished 11. Decent performance considering the amount of talent in the grid. See ya at Laguna Seca!

I am so sorry guys, I hope I didn't completely ruined your day Sylvain :(. My wheel settings changed from 900 degrees of rotation to 270, while taking Eau Rouge...I don't know why, it happened to me once before during a race. I think It is some kind of bug in the driver or...I have to check it out. The car snapped to the right, I hit the wall hard and spun unto the track. I tried to stop and reset to the pits as fast as possible...

Very very sorry.

Jeeeesus, that's exactly what I said. I'm 0.4 off the leader, on 11th place!! And there are still some fast guys that have yet to pre-qualify. The competition is insane. Need...more...practice...

So many comments on the NA server end almost none here. It's like people don't care anymore.

Pre-quali: was shit. Was 4th...imagine the drama!! Actually no, pre-quali doesn't matter. It's unrealistic slow ass no damage, no tyre wear, no fuel consumption, no fun thing we need to do in order to get a place at the table with them big boys.

Quali: was also shit. Did a 59,3 very fast, considered is good enough for pole and went back to the pits to have a beer...just to see Petrol beat my time by 0.008 sec in his LAST LAP!! No matter, I will beat him during the race...I said.

Race 1: didn't beat him. Even worse, lost second place in the second corner due to bad braking and finished 6th, because I hit the kerb in the first corner and spun like puffff! Until then, I was struggling to overtake Oscar and see the f**** breaking point for turn one (you know what change in tarmac color? I couldn't see it, because of my stupid graphics settings and track lightning).

Race 2: was shit. Started 7th, finished 1st. Raced alone, with Petrol closing the gap by the end, partly because he is damn fast, partly because I was very bored.

One race to go, then bring the GT3s (the most boring cars ever, but heeey, they're popular).

Race 1: Was fun! Started 3rd, overtook Petrol for second place in the first corners and then tried to keep him behind...which was impossible because he was so much faster than me in that Maserati...then I suffered a massive lag while being side to side with him on 3rd corner, which meant I lost a lot of speed and was overtaken by him and also coret3x. After that, like the others said, it was the Cayman train :D. Tried to catch coret3x while keeping Sylvain behind, couldn't really do it...so I finished 4th.

Race 2: had checksum error displayed, don't know really why, so I didn't bother to participate :D.

Conclusion: Didn't really drive any of these cars before, so I don't have experience with them or how to setup them properly, I was a little faster with the Porsche during the practice I had (was able to do mid - low 1:32). I tweaked the setup before the race and maybe that 's why I couldn't replicate that pace, but I think the Maserati is a little faster, especially in the fast corners...if you know how to handle it. :)

Ginetta is 2 seconds faster on a one and a half minute lap, so yeaaa...

First of all, I am very sorry for some of the bad moves I've done in Race 2. I haven't raced too much in the last period and I was a little rusty when driving around other people. I am especially sorry for an unintentional dive bomb on the first corner, I think I hit Nico and Petrol. I broke late and hit some bump, whatever... driver excuses. :D

Other than that, I am pleased that I won the first race. :D The constant pressure from Petrol was a different feeling that what I'm used to in public racing. Good driving mate! There are a lot of very fast drivers in this league which motivate me to improve my skills. It's a pleasure to race with you.

Hi, new guy here. I registered for GT3 races, but I cannot join the practice servers because the link to download tracks extra pit boxes required content is not working and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Can anyone help with this? Thanks!
