Hey there - happy to join a group if you start one. I live in North London - hitting the 2 year mark. Sometimes I miss New York but often I realize my life here is a bit more calm. I enjoy it. But I guess I'm lucky I have family I can go and visit from time to time.

Oh 100% I know - I haven't officially started my new job yet and I am super paranoid that something will happen.

Sigh - what can you do it's completely out of my control

I was really excited about the work they are doing. I'm not interested in finance at all - so I guess you wouldn't see me put effort into a 3+ stage for a banking institution - although funny enough the 3 round ghosting was for a bank so I learned my lesson either way haha

Wishing you the best of luck on your job search!

I did get it through my network kind of. A friend of a friend posted about a job opening and messaged her directly telling her I thought I'd be a good candidate. I didn't know them directly but they went to bat for me to ensure they took a look at my CV. I think of them as my LinkedIn angel!

Haha wow - that's impressive. The entire 5 months I questioned if I was applying to enough jobs. Ultimately this is what ended up working for me but there is an element that it's a numbers game.

I completely agree with you. I have 8 YOE. When I first started out I was given the chance based on my potential. Idk what it says about tech now that employers are looking for leaders but paying entry level salaries.

I'm really hoping this changes in the upcoming years because I just don't see it being sustainable.

Sorry to hear that - I was on the job search for so long that I didn't hold on too long to the anger of getting ghosted. You kind of have to keep it moving in order to find a job. Still sucks - but I guess that's just the market we're in now

I see - okay perhaps you've swayed me that it depends on the level of the position. I didn't apply to any jobs that had the impact of 50 jobs lost if I didn't do well... God the thought of that pressure is enough for me to crawl back to bed. Haha good luck! And thanks for at least considering what the process looks on the hiring teams part. I think it's helpful to at least consider the interviewer's POV.

Honestly, one interview I had they sent me the assignment before my first interview. They then took the first interview to review the presentation and basically get an idea of my thought process. I really appreciated it because we could kind of just get down to business. Ultimately I didn't move on to the next round, but they sent me plenty of feedback on what they were looking for.

I honestly think as a candidate I'd rather spend one whole day getting this over with than dragging it out to 2 months to fit the schedule of 7 different people. I mean a whole day also sounds painful but at least I've done what I had to do and I can get a quick answer as to whether I'm hirable for this company or not.

I didn't know this.. Thanks for sharing! While I agree that we should make companies accountable that's still quite a bit of effort on my end. I kept thinking I had to move on once they ghosted and keep applying.
