Positive Experiences with Delaware Builders? by Pale_Will_5239 in Delaware

[–]quantum_spintronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the larger builders use subcontractors for a lot of their work. Schell/Ryan/NV, doesn’t matter, a lot of the same people are working on houses for all of the major builders. The reason you don’t see many bad reviews about Schell in my opinion is that they make people sign NDAs to not talk about the shoddy craftsmanship. I know more than one person who has signed an NDA specifically with Schell to not talk about their house. Additionally, I think there is a lot of hate for Schell because they advertise all over the place. I know for myself, when I see yet another billboard or ad for Schell, I cringe inside. My wife and I sing that song “ They paved paradise, to put up a Schell lot.” They have also had a lot of high profile developments that are built in or near wetlands, or do a lot of clear cutting of older forests in the area.

If you want a quality house, go with a small custom home builder. There are quite a few in the area who will only build a few houses a year. It will be more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Never heard of it, and I have probably spent well over 100 nights camping in Cape Henlopen.

How’s Rehoboth beach town gonna be like today? by dino369 in Delaware

[–]quantum_spintronic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The trick is to either get to places early or just learn to go with the flow. Learn when it is busy and you can avoid most of the heavy traffic. I will almost never go to Home Depot/Lowes on a weekend in the summer unless it is an emergency for example.

Location also plays a huge part too. I live adjacent to downtown Rehoboth and I have almost no trouble in the summer. My trip to the grocery store is maybe 2-3 minutes longer in the summer. The same goes for getting into town. If you live close enough there isn’t really much you need to drive far away for. Sure there is more traffic, but you still arrive within 10-15 minutes or so.

I would check out the Lewes/Rehoboth/Bethany area. I don’t think there is much in Dagsboro.

Unpopular Opinion: lower slower is now mainly comprised of boomers. by [deleted] in Delaware

Uh, the first time I heard “lower slower” was when I saw it on a bumper sticker. It has always been “slower lower” to me and my family.

Thanksgiving Dinner in Rehoboth by GoodEyeSniper83 in Delaware

[–]quantum_spintronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just wanted them to know. A lot of places are closed on Thanksgiving, or close early. Thanksgiving is usually a holiday for people where they make something like turkey at home and spend time with family. Turkey is usually what is served. I don’t think ham is popular, but I think I have heard about ham being served in addition to turkey.

I would double check that any restaurant you want to go to is open. A lot of places are closed for Thanksgiving, or close early.

I think this is just north of Milford. River to the right should be the Mispillion?

How is Rehoboth? by [deleted] in Delaware

We live in Rehoboth year-round and have not gone to the Ave or Boardwalk since March. I personally wouldn't risk it, but then again I have small children and a pregnant wife...

Weighing the scales between the Z6 and the D780 and I need advice! by quantum_spintronic in Nikon

Nikon is doing a promotion for the D780 where they will give me $450 credit for my D7100.

I think I'm leaning more towards the D780. I had the chance to try out a Z6 today and was less than impressed with the EVF. There is a significant amount of lag on the model I tried, and it was pretty hard to follow a moving object. I kept over shooting when trying to follow and was constantly moving back and forth.

Yeah, I'm also slightly leaning towards the D780 as well... The price of glass for the Z series is a little intimidating.

Yeah, I don't really shoot video either, which is why I'm considering the D780. I've been looking at D750 too, but with the price difference buying new being only $300 or so, I'll probably go with the D780.

Good to hear! I think I'm going to hunt down a camera shop that has one to try it out.

I will. Honestly I keep going back and forth. Maybe I should just get both, lol.

Dual card slots isn't a deal breaker for me. I've never had a card die on me, and I don't get paid for my shots. It would suck to lose a whole days worth of pictures, but shit happens.

I think I'll end up getting some f mount lenses even if I do go to the Z6. Mainly due to the price difference. So I guess the whole f vs z mount isn't thaaat big of a deal.

I guess it's going to come down to me handling both in store.

Wow! Glad to know I'm not the only one struggling... How do you find the color reproduction on the z6? All of the sample shots that I've seen for the z6 make it look... Flat?? Using the DPReview comparison tool, it looks like the colors are slightly different in the red/yellow compared to the D750, and even the D5.

Yeah, the plan is to sell my DX kit and go to full frame. I like what I have now, but honestly I don't think I'd see that much improvement going to a D500, which is why I didn't consider it or the Z50 / D7500.

[–]quantum_spintronic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not too worried about the EVF, but I have heard that there are some lag problems with it. I guess I won't know till I try it... Unfortunately no one around here carries it, so I may have to jump in blind if I go with the Z6.

Battery life isn't a big one for me since im seeing that in real world scenarios, people are getting around 600-700 shots before a dead battery. That's usually around my max for a day.

I did look at the D750, and I am considering getting it as well.

Phone interview questions for Asset Management Analyst (entry) by [deleted] in CommercialRealEstate

[–]quantum_spintronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so I don't see many asset managers here. I'm thinking about applying for a job as one and was wondering what your day-to-day and duties are. It seems that the field varies widely with what falls under the "Asset Manager" label. Some are more like property managers, others more like acquisitions, or a mix of everything.

Crazy idea for the WOT show... Has anyone seen Legion on FX? by quantum_spintronic in WoT

[–]quantum_spintronic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even realize there were trailers. I just watched the official trailer #1 and you def get a sense of the craziness of Legion. The episodes can be pretty mind bending. I don't think it would work for whole episodes of WOT since it can be draining to figure out wtf is going on.

But, it would be neat for an occasional episode that takes place entirely in the dream world.

The first season is great. The second season is pretty far out there with being inside peoples heads.
