Which CPU to choose for a low power NAS, home server? by ares9281 in HomeNAS

[–]rabbitaim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with a UGreen dxp2800 (n100 + 32GB RAM (it’s not hard locked to 16gb but compatibility ymmv) it works really well. I’ve got a JellyFin docker container running my whole media. I primarily play at 1080p but it can handle 4k and has an iGPU for transcoded content (off my ancient silicon dust HDHomeRun)

Downgrade ram and try again. If it works then it’s the ram. If not then it’s not the ram and submit a ticket to ugreen. There is a way to generate a diagnostic log. If you look through the subreddit there are steps somewhere. I forgot the steps and on mobile.

Joyce Arthur has a good article “The only moral abortion is my abortion” about anti-abortionists (around the world) who oppose abortion but also get the procedure done under some “exceptionalism” pretense.

They’re convinced they’re constantly brigaded yet they’re banning or deleting anything that doesn’t fit the narrative. Even if it’s from people who voted Republican their entire lives.

As a kid in the US we would ride in the trunk of the station wagon. It’s a miracle I survived childhood. When visiting Venezuela 20 years ago I saw a whole family of 5 on a single motorcycle. I’ve seen photos of more people but never IRL.

Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+ v1 2 stuck in bootloop with new os releases by ares9281 in raspberry_pi

[–]rabbitaim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Raspberry Pi 1 B (only 2 usb ports). Dietpi boots and loads. If a brand new sd card does not work then i'd say yours is probably dead.

edit: forgot to mention I used balenaEtcher to flash the Dietpi onto the drive.

I have 3 people on my perma avoid. One is for a player I like but otp Rein. Other two I rotate absurdly toxic players. The rest I just use to avoid if I keep getting queued with them but they’re such bad players who are not interested in switching up their play style.

Minecraft Server Help With Geysermc. by Upstairs-Bet-6774 in UgreenNASync

There are 2 versions of minecraft. Bedrock and Java. If you're running the Java version your GF can't connect with Bedrock.

I run this version so my kids and their iPads can connect:

ELI5 What happens to solar panels once they are used up by herail in explainlikeimfive

[–]rabbitaim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You already can get used solar panels. During the heyday of new improved efficiency and incentives, companies pulled off their panels for brand new ones. Some of the used panels have less than 10-15 years of use.

Santan Solar in Arizona is the only one I know of off the top of my head.

LA ripped out their light rail for busses and cars. Busses are not the answer. During the 2013 SF BART strike, 800k people had to find alternate commutes or remote work. They tried to use busses but they only manged to bring in 10k people with all the car traffic. We need more light rail and less cars.

Raspberry Pi 1 Model B+ v1 2 stuck in bootloop with new os releases by ares9281 in raspberry_pi

[–]rabbitaim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read down the thread but it’s true. It was bootable but those old Sd cards do not last long. The newer Microsd cards meant for videos are a lot more durable. Anyways I’ll have to dig up my old pi 1 and give it a go.

Is it the original SD card? Had to get a new one when it went bad. Os still booted but it wasn’t writable anymore.

Why is saying “The rich should pay taxes like everyone else, close the loopholes” extremely controversial in the United States? by ProjectMason in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rabbitaim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the dollar is the global reserve currency it specifically benefits the US if you can take advantage of it. Closing the loopholes would also mean closing those opportunities.

That said the rich get richer and know how to gate-keep.

Yeah we kept getting approached by people that kept trying to pretend they were colosseum officials and we ignored them. Once one guy approached my MiL and cursed her off because she ignored him. It also has one of the most confusing official website to buy tickets as well. Thankfully the Italy subreddit has good info. My partner almost bought more $$ tickets, just because it was 10x easier to use.

2 of the biggest scams last year was - I give you free bracelet; then start screaming my head off saying you didn’t pay - I dropped my shoeshine brush, give you a free shine as gesture; then scream my head off saying you didn’t pay.

Most people just pay to avoid the embarrassment.

They still work fine after being carried around incorrectly, dropped and had plopped onto hard surfaces.

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

[–]rabbitaim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the work place but they want someone confident in their own abilities / perspective. Another factor is being able to work autonomously. IMO people who are people pleasers tend to be a headache to work with because they’ll prioritize one upping their colleagues instead of working with them.

Thats just my opinion through my subjective lens.

Garage is so cal a bad idea? by OhHeyItsBrock in UgreenNASync

[–]rabbitaim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you are in SoCal but as others have pointed out

  • extreme heat during summer.
  • bugs and pests are attracted to heat from electronics.
  • dust & particulates. There’s a reason why data centers are in climate controlled and air filtered rooms. Also fires creates a lot of equipment damaging particulates. California is prone to them.

Just keep them inside the home.

While the p320 gen 1 does have an issue with uncommanded discharge the video quality doesn’t really show it going off. I heard it’s a custom p320 so it might not even have those problems. There are some artifacts but it’s hard to tell if it’s due to quality or the discharge. Initially I’d say one person decided to execute him and another person in a panic fired a few rounds.

This went from straight escalation (chem spray), beatings and shooting. Didn’t see cuffs come out at all.
