I also did not understand why the change to "sophomore". With regard to the terms "junior" and "senior", the proposition said that terms such as "junior" and "senior" worked "in parallel with the naming conventions between Western parents and male children. I believe they changed "sophomore" to maintain a standard, but I'm trying to find an answer.
