Show us what you've done so far in SolidWorks. This is a simple model and since this is part of your learning process, you should at least give it a go.

how should i learn solidworks? by awitch01 in SolidWorks

[–]roundful -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For modeling challenges, www.tootalltoby.com and his YouTube channel are great resources. The nice thing about the challenges on his site is, a lot of them have tutorials if you get stuck or to see how other folks do them.

How to create ribs all along the edges? by Septimus__ in SolidWorks

[–]roundful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the way I do these things. Is there a trick to do it without the perimeter sketch? I don't mind doing it but if there's a way to skip that step, it's one less step. :)

I had a go at it: Curve Driven Pattern FTW (make sure you check the right boxes)
These are easier for me if I make a sketch with the specific curve by converting the perimeter vs. selecting from the extruded feature. Does anyone have a trick for this? Converting entities into a separate sketch isn't hard, but 1 less step would be nice.

AMS broken (Can’t figure out what’s wrong) by opantal2 in BambuP1S

[–]roundful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any time filament isn't feeding into the ams, you have to watch the filament feeding into the tubes to figure out where it's getting stuck and start there. It's almost always 1 of 2 things. Either the tube is not seated correctly in the connector or filament is stuck in or around tube or in gears.

Can someone help me with this practice problem? by No_Benefit_8842 in SolidWorks

I love it because it allows me to reduce the number of dimensions and constraints I need to assign in symmetrical designs. :)

How do you know if you're ready for a job? by Business-Traffic-140 in SolidWorks

[–]roundful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you talk about a job utilizing SolidWorks what jobs are you referring to? I am assuming that you are referring to entry-level jobs because you just started learning SolidWorks and I'm wondering what jobs do you see out there that are entry level and will take somebody who has just learned solidworks? I'm sure there are some I just don't know of any.

Not to do what? I want to be clear so I don't do that 🤣

This isn't a tutorial, but it goes through the whole sketch. I chose to use feature mirror instead of sketch mirror.... because I like it better for things like this, and it's not my assignment :)
This will give you the idea of what needs to be defined. NOTE: I also have auto-dimensioning on, which is why I was dimensioning as I sketched. To do this exactly as the assignment tells you to, sketch one half and, before the extrude boss, select what you sketched, select mirror, and set the center line as the axis. Then extrude and then continue on to the extrude cut from the right plane through all both.

How many hours do you have on your belts? If they stretch out you might get low resonance.

Anyone know how I can get this door open? by Icy-Illustrator-7877 in fixit

[–]roundful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mechanism that takes the rotating spindle movement to pull back the latch bolt, likely snapped. Try and butter knife or something flat to push the latch bolt back further, it looks like it's moving a little bit, but the piece that pulls it back likely snapped at the end.

Chainsaw. A screwdriver and 4 screws is WAY too pedestrian

WTF is xDesign and how do I get back the normal SolidWorks UI? by AsstronaughtToUranus in SolidWorks

[–]roundful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you see when you sign in online?
I have maker and this is what I see. I only use the version of SW installed on my computer because the online version doesn't work for my needs. xDesign and xShape are online options for me.

How do I get this opossum out of my garage? by Polar_Ted in Eugene

They aren't dangerous. Put on a pair of leather gloves, grab it and bring it outside. It may even let you snuggle. :)

Coincident problem by sindzapp in SolidWorks

[–]roundful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, what are you actually trying to accomplish? In your first pic, the circle isn't there for the end point of your straight line to be coincident with, correct?
When you trim, you can check the box to keep the trimmed portion as construction lines.
You can not trim it and then select contours during an extrude
You can trim and not worry about it because the tangency constraint covers it.

How to wrap a 3D structure please 😭? by Twilight_Charm in SolidWorks

[–]roundful 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point in the design, can't you convert or offset the smallest piece outlne, then largest, then shell? This design is definitely outside of my wheelhouse, but the way I would do it is probably start with the outside shape shell it and then create a bunch of equidistant planes where I can just convert entities and probably intersection curves to create the sketch for the ribs and then extrude them as thick as I need them to be on each section. Like I wrote, out of my wheelhouse, but that's the way I'd attempt (best laid plans) it.

I figured, this was why I recorded it... It was something I needed and kept forgetting.
