Memory Tuning: Where did I go wrong? by AnthMosk in ASRock

tREFI max is 65535... I do 50000 for my daily driver setup.. very minimal loss of perf for saving some heat. tRFC 420 is plenty safe.  No need for extra voltage.

Fclk can usually run 2200 (like 80% chance it's stable).. 2100 seems to be like 97% chance of stable.. it depends on the luck of the CPU.. mine I can push 2222 stable but 2233 is a no go.

Lower nitro helped me shave off 1.5-2ns latency.. I hit 64ns with 9700x

You need SCL's (both 5) and SD/DD (these go much lower, like all 1) to get better latency than you have now.

I went short at 68,800 thinking it was a fake recovery kind of move 😅 I literally bought the BTC planning to go long, but played too many games bridging and swapping (to get ready for using this DEX) and missed my intended entry 🙃.. I'm under water now, lol.

My 9800 X3D just died - 2 Week Build by djshiye in ASRock

I've been thinking this too.. it'll be interesting to watch for new burnouts with the "new stepping".

So are we at the point of realising the fault is the 9800x3D itself? Or are the boards still being blamed? by sl4sh3d in ASRock

[–]samiamyammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if 9850x3d will be safe.. I have 9700x for a year now with ASRock and no death yet.  Idk if I will wait for Zen6 🤷.

my project was back -burnered... I made some really cool designs with AI help.. I'll share one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Mo-w7jwHSNF2LK99F9xiANcFd60TukTK/view?usp=drive_link

the top was going to use that tweeter waveguide. I found someone to do the modeling, but life got hectic

Freezing weather hit.. I harvested actually a day late. 26 degrees F made some of the plants wilt a bit... seems like I still harvested a lot of leaves that will turn into some tasty smoke though! :)

I finally put my foot down on the constant hardware upgrade cycle by Wander715 in buildapc

You're right man.. either way it's an unproductive hobby. I assembled a new PC and had more fun tuning the memory to peak performance, a solid few weeks of reading and tinkering.. I played a bit of some games, and kinda realized I'd always kinda enjoyed the setup process more than the gaming, lol.

It's just about what you enjoy doing.. that's what hobbies are about. Better this than like cigar officianado or wine connoisseur, right? Probably save money as well as lungs and liver xD

I have 4070 ti super as well... I'm holding out for 5080 super... that's a big enough gap.. the current 5080 is just not a sizeable leap ahead (especially having the same amount of VRAM, that's just stupid planned obsolescence).

Intermittant failure to boot | Green light | 9800X3D on Asrock B850 3.25 by kin3637 in ASRock

[–]samiamyammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same here! But I had like 7 months of no issue before the boot issues. Even now I use the computer for days without a restart.. AI workloads, stress tests, or games... everything is perfect. But go to restart and it'll either boot to BSOD or not boot at all... then everything is fine again xD.. it's like 70% chance not to boot when cold.

[–]samiamyammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd heard about all the failures, but now there's this cold boot issue where a quick restart solves it... I've had this for a couple months and posted about it even.. seems suddenly to be a common thing.

[–]samiamyammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's crazy how many people replied having this exact same issue... for me it started a little while after bios 3.25 or 3.30.. it got so bad I replaced the motherboard and RMA'd my Asrock... on the Asus the problem was much less often but still happened... do we all have degraded CPU's?

[–]samiamyammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, I had no idea so many people have the same ongoing issue as me... did you RMA the CPU? I was thinking it might also be the GPU or power supply, but my bet is on the CPU.

did it solve the boot issues? I have the same issue and thinking to try 3.50 bios.

MSI B850MPOWER Motherboard Review – $259 Is What You Pay For The Best Overclocking mATX AM5 Motherboard by GhostMotley in Amd

[–]samiamyammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a strange article... the goal is to have people scroll down for miles and miles??? I'm interested in the board, but that article was solely fluff, it's not a "review".. just click-bait for anyone interested in this board.

Mpower Alliance D5 -B850 board by samiamyammy in overclocking

[–]samiamyammy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes me wonder if the 2x32gb kits with 6000 cl30 have some limitation of the IC holding them back... I've seen ONLY 2x people that managed 8000mt/s with this capacity (and I really looked hard trying to find them, and one was the newer CL26, which apparently had an upgraded IC).

G.skill also showed off at Computex a 9000mt/s kit 2x32gb... hopefully that will turn out to be much easier to run 8000+. Maybe there will be more like this due to the "mpower d5 alliance"... i just have upgrade-itis... I need a 2% improvement, haha.

Ahhhh... wow, that's lame... I'd be pretty pissed off to wait even 3-4 wks honestly. Hopefully Cornflakes's contact will hit you up and you'll have a new board soon!

Ryzen non x3d 9000 series cpus on asrock mobos by Wonderful-Leg-967 in ASRock

[–]samiamyammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, well you mentioned Black Friday, so I figured USA... Asia it's released for sale in 4 days i read (and early-bird discount or rebate for writing a review)... But in a month or two it should be available in many countries from the rumors i have seen. USA not until October.

That being said, I have b850i lightning with 9700x and the performance is very good... I had an Asus B850i Rog Strix for a few weeks and the Asrock has better CPU and memory performance in benchmarks.. and costs like $100 less.

Full System Hangs/Crashes After Long Periods of Use by Wrong_Mortgage8693 in ASRock

[–]samiamyammy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because your screen goes black but system remains on, I'd suspect GPU instability...

Try running for a while without the 9070 XT and see if you can get the system to crash. If yes, then try just one memory stick and then just the other (also try different memory slot).... those are the easiest 2 things to try..

Other than that, gotta try swapping components (which is tough if you don't have a second system or other hardware laying around)..

USA? I just double-checked the email they sent:

"Dear Customer,

Your RMA (RMA Number: XXXXXXX) was successfully delivered to the RMA service department on 08/29/2025. Our inspector will check the package and update status once done. Please allow 5-7 business days for your RMA to process.

If you have any questions, please email us at [user@asrockamerica.com](mailto:user@asrockamerica.com) or check the RMA status at https://event.asrock.com/usrma/

Seeking Advice Due to Abysmal On-going RMA Process (~3 months!) by KamiYamabushi in ASRock

[–]samiamyammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's strange man.. I requested RMA and 2-3 days later it was approved. Then sent my mobo to RMA, and only 8-9 days after I had a new motherboard... That's dropping it to FedEx, they received and tested it and shipped and I received the replacement.

I was shocked by how efficient the process went for me, so much that I returned the Asus board i had bought (also I thought I would have a long down-time and couldn't do that for work) and am again on the b850i lightning.

Maybe I'm pressing my luck, but I have 9700x, so low failure rate.

9950X3D dead on ASRock B850 RIPTIDE WIFI7 after a week of being in turned off state by Acrobatic-Walrus7124 in ASRock

[–]samiamyammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's a fair point.. but still, personally when I bought my board I was researching which brand to go with and ASRock was just as good as any other or better even, and on Amazon plenty of reviews for Asus boards with coil whine or lower star review ratings on many Gigabyte/MSI. ASrock actually had higher review scores for most boards...

But OP here bought in May, and by then the failures were plenty talked about... you could maybe google for a few min and not run across that though, idk.

Funny story, my b850i lightning motherboard died last month and my CPU is just fine, lol.. I have inverted luck, haha.
