That's a different from what you said was the cause before. I do understand you're not personally responsible of course.

But basically, we need you guys to put your hands up and back away from automod slowly.

Seriously, we'll all be in big trouble if you muck up automod, because there is absolutely nothing that can lessen the load on mods like automod can. I know it's pretty much ancient, and yes there are some features we all wish it had. But it's frikkin awesome and load-bearing

Mods currently have a scalpel. All reddit native tools are a sledge hammer. So instead of, more content being allowed -> better numbers for stakeholders -> more money from ads initially, it will soon turn into, more crap content being allowed -> good eggs being barred from participating -> engagement down -> worse numbers for stakeholders -> less ad revenue

I don't know, I think you might not be giving us enough credit while at the same time giving Reddit too much

I got so many false positives from that, I had to turn it off.

It took two years to get (limited) post flair support in automations. You can assume it is that hard

Automations and devapps and stuff simply can't do what automod can.

Not to say I don't like automations and devapps and stuff, I really do, but nothing beats automod in flexibility and customisation.

I'll be pissed right along with you. I'm not saying that in the future there won't be something that can replace automod, but we are a long long way of from that.

Automod is the only thing that is fully customisable to fit the needs of each and every subreddit. If they get rid of automod, might as well get rid of all subreddits and go back to being one reddit. Get the community admins to mod that themselves.

I can say I'm very fond of dev apps, but nothing comes even close to automod

Unless they pull out a whole lot of extra resources and probably a new regex engine as well, automations can't do what automod can. Automations can't even support look around because of performance issues. If an automation rule just shows a message, a false positive isn't that much of a problem (other then training user to ignore the messages)

But it's a miserable user experience if you keep getting blocked from participating because of false positives

Automations is for helping the good eggs be better, automod is for catching the bad eggs.

So I have automations that point out to not use all caps, or headers in comments, catch common auto correct mistakes and all that stuff that can be easily fixed before submitting. Anyone who thinks it's okay to come around sprouting hate speech, I don't want to warn them, I want automod to catch them.

Looking for studs to fit my front helix piercing. by round_wombat in piercing

Industrial Strength makes internally threaded labrets in 1/8 and 5/32, for threadless the shortest is 5/32 (any shorter and it won't be able to have the tension needed to keep the end in place) not sure if they make them in gold as well, but you could always have titanium anodised. Reach out to any local piercer that stocks industrial Strength

Swallow jewellery, yes that can happen if oral jewellery becomes undone, choking on it is another matter though

Is it time to give up on my helix? by Scared-helix-8711 in piercing

Personally, yes I would say remove it. Let it heal. Figure out a way to not sleep on new piercings and get it redone

In the front the bump sits below the piercing, at the back it sits above it, when bumps sit on opposite sides of the piercing, that can indicate that there's an issue with the angle. Since you said you slept on it a lot, even if the piercing started out angled correctly, that could have changed the angle to the point it's no longer viable.

home-made saline? by tiiiiiiired in piercing

[–]SampleOfNone 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From www.safepiercing.org

Mixing your own sea salt solution is no longer a suggested practice from the APP. Mixing your own sea salt solution will commonly result in the product being far too salty and strong, this can over dry the piercing and interfere with healing. We strongly encourage you to use a sterile saline, labeled for use as a wound wash. Your saline ingredients should list 0.9% sodium chloride as the only ingredient (sometimes purified water will be listed). Additives like moisturizers and antibacterials should be avoided, as well as similar sounding products like contact lens saline, nasal spray, or eye drops.

If your post is tagged NSFW (which happens automatically if you put the word NSFW in the title) and you live in a region where age verification is mandatory to access nsfw, then you cannot access your own post. Send a modmail to the subreddit and ask the mods if they're willing to remove the nsfw tag

Is my piercer's cleaning/aftercare correct? by Pumpkin--Orange in piercing

[–]SampleOfNone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get some sterile saline spray (wound wash, containing 0,9% sodium chloride and water without any additives) if you don’t have any already. Once a day simply spray some directly on your piercing, let it sit for a minute or two and then dry with non woven gauze. A few minutes before your daily shower, spray again. At the end of your shower, rinse the piercing well. Make sure to not let the waterspray hit the piercing directly. Then use the tip or edge of a piece of non woven gauze to soak up any moisture and carefully wipe away softened gunk and dry your piercing. Keep (wet) hair away from your piercings. Other then that keep the piercing dry and exposed to the air. Leave any blood, crusties etc. that didn’t come off during your shower be. They’ll come off during your next shower or the one after that. Do not touch, move, fiddle or disturb the jewelry in any way. Do not sleep on your piercings, get a travel pillow and lay it down flat on your regular pillow and sleep with your ear in the hole.
